New Everton Stadium

I bet it's going to be freezing in winter what with it being right next to the water
Not sure if this is a WUM.... But ill answer anyway. Generally areas near the coast are more moderate in temperature than those inland. Of course it may be more windy at the BMD as it is exposed but within the stadium it will be protected of course.

Lang seem to be managing it well mate, when you look at the Spurs stuff - though it seems their issues were with the internal fit. Their issue was procurement and poor stakeholder analysis, they outsourced to multiple sub contractors and made a mess of it.

Im not all that surprised if there is a delay, i was half expecting it, in projects this size, it’s not uncommon, the breathing space might be useful, given the current economic climate and the need for investment.

I can't remember what the exact issues with the Spurs stadium but I remember them have wiring issues with the fire alarm system and I knew a company who was brought in last min to sort out issues with the HVAC panels.

They threw loads of silly money bringing on loads of extra Electricians and other trades people last minute. I knew a few lads from the North East who jibbed their contracts to go down for the money. It was chaos and people sabotaging work on site to prolong it for the cash. Toilets was rife with drugs apparently.

Not even remotely a WUM post, but thanks for being a condescending jerk about it

As someone who has been to Inverness Caledonian Thistle's ground, the wind can clatter these waterfront stadiums sometimes and it can get pretty cold in there. Liverpool is already a pretty windy place anyway

Hopefully the stadium is designed in a way that minimises that, which I'm sure it will be

I bet it's still going to be chilly in there regardless though

It's a small thing to put up with considering we're getting a brand spanking new stadium of course, but still a relevant discussion point I feel, even if some people (with their entire 4 months of membership to the forum) want to be arsey about it

Having just looked at their stadium Mikey.

That stadium looks open to the elements though, this will be a tall, boxed in structure so I dont think it will be as bad as well im sure there was plenty of mention of 'wind diffisuers' of some sort.

How the wind will do coming in from above, dropping down and back up I dont know, but that ICT stadium on the coast looks a nightmare for being open to a gust!

Must be some interesting footy matches up there.

Correct. They certainly do a fair bit of CM but also D&B too. You can see why they would prefer CM as they can be an absolute cash cow.
CM’s only manage the contractors who are typically employed by the client, usually building to a client appointed design consultant and all involved are at the whim of client changes or design shortfalls which equate to more time and money paid for by the client.
LOR are basically on a fixed price lump sum for ours (AFAIK), so it’s on them to get it built.
I know there’s been talk of cost increases meaning the often quoted £500m is now £700m, but that extra £200m might be for fit out, public realm improvements, or any number of things not directly involved in the stadium build. Equally there may have been contract clauses for potential materials volatility. Unlike Spurs we won’t be on the hook for quality of work, resourcing delays, design integration issues (big one for Spurs) or any of that jazz.

I'm quite sure the original £500m quote included all site prep and heritage preservation costs. I only say that because I asked Colin Chong that specific question at the time of the shareholder's stadium consultation meetings.

I specifically asked because I had thought that £500m was quite high compared to a few other stadium project proposals at that time... to which he said that the prep included filling the dock, raising the quaysides by 1m, while reinstating all granite blockwork, surfaces and historic features, at a cost of approx £100m. At the time I think the Roma and Feyenoord stadium projected costs were approx €300m and £400m respectively.

It is difficult to make meaningful cost comparisons and get accurate stadium cost breakdowns. When it suits, clubs often conflate whole project and stadium contruction costs to exaggerate the quality of the stadium to the fanbase or inflate selling price to any prospective buyers. Remember Kirkby sometimes being quoted as a £400m stadium project, when the actual stadium cost was less than 1/4 of that? Moshiri may or may not have been doing a bit of that with his £750m statement. However, if that original £500m was close to accurate, I would've thought the post-Covid hyper-material and labour cost inflation could explain some of that increase. For instance, Feyenoord shelved their's for that stated reason.

It's colder than a mother in law's kiss mate

Listening recently to nick one of our regular drone operators who films at anfield and bramley Moore weekly he actually stated that it was colder at anfield and by definition goodison than at bramley Moore. He’s done both sites every week for over a year now.
As he says it’s colder up higher ground 🤔
And stoke is well up high 🤷🏻‍♂️
