New Everton Stadium

That bordeaux stadium the Welsh were in the other day is lovely. Quite similar themes to Goodison if the upper tier had criss crosses on the balconies. Would be ace to have something like that.

Would need it a bit bigger, mind

I thought this too - how ironic too having all those posts outside the stadium instead of inside it!! Would remind us of all thse obstructed views we have had!

A waterfront location is absolutely the only thing Everton should be aiming for. What a statement it would be to the rest of the sporting world - as well as a city.

After years of frustration and stagnation, we are about to catapulted into the 21st century in a futuristic "Kubrickian" stadium.

Plus on the ale before and after the game, straight into town? It's gonna be boss.

It would put us back on the map.

An investment group supported by the Chinese state government is attempting to purchase Liverpool for £700million, The Independent can reveal.

It has emerged that Liverpool’s owners Fenway Sports Group have been aware of the proposal from SinoFortone since March.

SinoFortone, who are fronted by managing director Peter Zhang, has committed £5.2billion towards new projects in the UK over the last 12 months.

They have already explored the potential of building a new stadium in the dockland area of Liverpool, appreciating that Anfield’s new main stand will be completed in September.

Had a chat with a fellow poster, and long time season ticket holder, and neither of us want a new stadium. Everton is Goodison. I understand all the logical reasons for a new ground. But would we be losing a big chunk of our soul. Goodison to me is a living, breathing organism. You can't tell me all that money can't buy a few sharp architects and builders to put a new roof on that doesn't include poles, or rebuild one or more of the stands to modernize what we can.

L4 is already deprived. I hate to think what will happen to places like the Winslow, the Black Horse, and the Taxi Club (all places I patronized during my whirlwind 3 day journey to the spiritual homeland).

I look at my own country, and provide you with Exhibit A and B, Fenway Park and Wrigley Field. Both stadiums are just as ill suited to modern professional sports as Goodison is. They are smack dab in the middle of neighborhoods, small, cramped, totally unsuitable. YET...they are two of the most revered and popular grounds we have in this country. There's a lesson here. Is anyone really prepared to go to that patch between Goodison Rd., Walton Lane, and Gladwys Street only to find a block of flats or a Tesco there in 4 years?

I can't bear it.

I get what you mean mate, but an iconic, waterfront stadium would be the absolute DBs for me.

Sorry mate but you can't understand as you cant go regularly. You're obviously more likely to see it with rose tinted specs.

Crap facilities when you have to pay £525 a year to sit with your knees against the back of somebody else's seat, having to queue most of half time to get a pint, and having crap food. That all matters when you go regularly.

That's aside from the fact we will NEVER catch up to the top clubs in the league without moving to a top drawer stadium.

What does this actually mean? The letter going round twitter supposedly from these people mentions that they're interested in funding a redevelopment of goodison and a new dock stadium

You're correct sadly. I think everyone will be sad to leave Goodison, but the game has passed us by for 30 years. We need to play catch up and fast, to compete at a high level in the future.

Mate my brain agrees with you totally. When it comes to Everton, it's not in charge though. You make a fair point about me, but my mate I was speaking with goes every match home and away.

All the more reason we need to grab the closest possible dock spot we can to the city.

Curious to know what @The Esk makes of this.

Totally agree Brennan if there was truly a way to stay at Goodison I would be with it like a shot,I have so many happy memories from over the best part of 50 years of watching the blues there but I have seen all the arguments and ideas put forward for remaining at the old lady in some capacity but I'm sorry from whatever angle you look at it,it doesn't make economic or inspirational sense.

The thought of moving to the waterfront seems so much more important and meaningful than it ever did as it seems that finally, unless we are being hoodwinked,we now have someone onboard who can deliver exactly that.

Yes I would miss all the local traditional boozers around the ground but we have to move with the times provide better facilities for everyone, ample parking close to the stadium, efficient transport links, money spinning corporate expansion, and a world class stadium which visitors too the city(Including former Southampton cruise passengers) can have immediate access to.

I just cannot see this happening remaining at Goodison and a separate stadium will allow a smooth transition when the time comes, but sooner rather than later please before we finally run out of patience,of which I believe as fans we have shown more of than anyone else over the past 40 years.

For me, Bill Kenwright not securing the Kings dock was his biggest mistake in charge and we missed the boat big time and never really recovered. To be even talking about the possibility of a stadium on the banks of the royal blue Mersey is quite frankly unbelievable. All these failed ground moves over the years and we end up with what we all wanted in the first place! Maybe a new dawn is finally upon us. We have finally been woken up:celebrate:
