New Everton Stadium

On the subject of capacity, has BMD been reduced at all?
I wondered about this, too. There's often a bit of a change once the seats go in, up or down, from the original plans, I assume due to value engineering or changing priorities in terms of premium seating, at the final stages of a build. It happened at Spurs, I seem to recall, but I haven't heard anything about that at BMD and it seems like almost all of the seating is installed now.

I wonder if there would be room for increased capacity in the next 10 years once our finances have settled and we're on a firmer financial footing. (assuming there is still huge demand for match day and season tickets to facilitate it).
From the aerial views it seems like there would be enough room for a third tier (roughly the same size as the upper tier that would bring capacity closer to 70,000.

I have wondered lately if the squared structure(s) with the brick warehouse look could be used as a 'foundation' of sorts for bringing the east and west stands further back. Construction is not my thing though, so it's possibly/probably not feasible, but is something I've mused over.

That’s been my assumption, you can see from the initial 60k proposal that the barrel roofing curves extended past the square brick parts of the ground. Likewise a small extension to the Everton way could provide room for supports to extend the south stand.

It is perfectly possible to embrace it fully without feeling the need to exaggerate or ignore the basic facts. Nor is it ever moaning to state the facts.

You say yourself that it's a miracle that thing was built given the parlace financial state it created in the process. Precisely the issues that caused the type of reservations and fears some have had from the start. Hopefully, the end will justify the means.

For some now there still appears to be some misgivings about capacity (or future-proofing) and for others transport/parking etc.

For me, I'm fairly contented with the capacity as it is quite a step up, and given the costs incurred for that, I think any additional costs could've easily sunk us completely. Future-Proofing by achievable expansion might be overly expensive and problematic but perhaps the relatively cheap acquisition by the new owners might make that more viable now.

I have some concerns about transport, especially if too many people are still insistent on using their cars, as I think they will be in for a very rude awakening, as will the rest of us due to the resultant grid lock they cause. However, due chiefly to the proximity of town, I don't believe those issues are insurmountable, and again am hopeful that it will balance out with time.

At the end of the day, isn't this type of discussion that these threads are for?
Of course this is what these threads are for Tom .
There's many a good discussion on here but there's also week by week almost day by day, out & out moaning particularly about the capacity .
Mainly from the same posters obsessed with "ours is bigger than yours " attitude.
The vast majority understand the many many obstacles that have been overcome against all the odds and just appreciate what we do have sitting there shining on the banks of the Mersey.

There's no need for it.
