Yes, as is mine.I agree, the point was about the capacity
Bars are an island with multiple ones along the concorse I think, with roughly the same space on the opposite side of it, not shown in the videoLooks good, but that concourse is very narrow for a new ground. Unless that's some small section I can't see how people are going to move about safely there.
Absolutely no chance of safe standing at a higher ratio than 1:1 there.
Yes, plus this concourse area is for the upper South stand which will not be for safe-standing in anycase and will always be 1:1. This concourse also continues into the corners and around to the east stand too.Bars are an island with multiple ones along the concorse I think, with roughly the same space on the opposite side of it, not shown in the video

52,888 seats is fine for us currently. But surely just factoring in some kind of minimal engineering option to add another 17,122 seats (to 70k) without a major overhaul would have been sensible, given the sheer grandeur of the design. The difference between a 50k and 70k stadium for things like Euros, Champions League final, major pop concerts, etc. would be quite significant.
Maybe there could be a way - obviously with a fair bit of re-structuring, but who knows… Perhaps its a “worry” for another day eh, one step at a time and all that. Lets just get the takeover sorted and stay in the league first!
Sounds like something my ex-wife would say to her new fellaCompared to what we've been used to all these year's, it's absolutely massive isn't it Tom

Agreed, a third tier could certainly be added but it wont be for at least another decade, and only if demand facilitates it due to the cost of adding and extra 10k+ seats. We may also find that safe standing at ratios higher than 1:1 comes in by that point and we get closer to 60k through that method anyway.There's scope to extend without even changing the footprint. There's still space above the brick facade structures.. Only issue there is the roof would need to be changed.
It won't be happening any time soon though, imo.
Is there a reason why the Upper South can't/won't be converted? The row depth is the same.That's the South Upper, so no safe standing there anyway. Also, what you see there is less than half of the concourse space in that area.

Upon closer inspection, that section suggests the lower stand varies from 26 degrees through to 34 degrees!
red=26 degrees, blue=28 degrees, green=30 degrees, orange=34 degrees
So that clears that one up

Yes, the concourses are bigger generally, and the ability to circulate into adjacent sections could help with that too. That said, the south concourse might get congested due to its views etc, so we'll see if that circulation is kept. I think the upper north might be quite tight in parts too especially if the away team takes up full allocation for cup games, meaning the upper concourse is sealed off. I don't think there will be acres of space in GA areas, as that will be one of the major selling points for hospitality, but it should all be at bigger spacial allowance than we currently have in the Park end for instance.Compared to what we've been used to all these year's, it's absolutely massive isn't it Tom
Thanks, seems like 34° is the max gradient for safe standing then and the upper tier(s) are 35°?There is a maximum allowed gradient for standing, which the South stand upper goes above.
The posts around here in the thread hopefully explain it.
