It might have been a blessing in disguise that we lost out on the Kings Dock project. The promises about the money being in place for the Kings Dock was before Arsenal began the work on the Emirates. They have had some issues with atmosphere and I think there were other issue trying to make it feel like a proper home for them. Other teams have had similar issues with their own fans not feeling at home in their new grounds and I think having to had to wait an extra 20 years to get to build our new ground we can have learned from the mistakes made by team in the couple of decades where so many stadiums were built on new sites.
We made a good call with the location, just as close to town as Goodison is but in a prominent position on the river. A lot of folks stopped going the match when Bolton made the move to their ground because it was n`t in the town, they saw it as a betrayal of the fans. We might have ended in Kirby, not because it was the right call but because it was cheap.
I hope that we have the balance right between general admission and hospitality options, and I hope there is someone with a plan that can encourage those in the hospitality areas to get to their seats in the stand before the teams come out for the game. Both Wembley and Arsenal have big problems with the game being well underway and there are loads of empty seats very visible in the stands.
100% thisLosing out on the Kings Dock could never be described as any kind of blessing tbh. More like an act of criminal negligence
that practically condemned our club to the doldrums for the past 20yrs. BMD is great on many levels but on location, transport and stadium flexibility The Kings Dock was far superior.... at a pittance in terms of cost too.
Precisely.... all but killed us as a major club. The opportunity missed was unforgivable.100% this
We’d never have had to endure all those years of kenwright, no trophies and zero ambition - which is exactly why he quashed it

The Kings Dock debacle always makes me shudder, I didn’t realise how badly run we were until that happened. Kirkby would have been the end of Everton.. I truly believe we would have never recovered…It might have been a blessing in disguise that we lost out on the Kings Dock project.
