New Everton Stadium

Absolutely incredible! Makes it all seem very real and very close. Seems like only yesterday we were watching that little boat go up and down. Can’t wait until the first game in that stadium. It’s going to be electric!
I miss the Shoalway, hope there’s a picture of it in the new stadium somewhere. Rather that then anything Kenwright related

Seems like only yesterday we were watching RS kids flying kites with their grandads there.

Long article, but the salient chunk:

The newer news is that TFG has already started to look at what life will be like at Everton’s new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock next season.

To be frank, TFG would not be interested in buying the Premier League side if they were not moving into a new, 53,000-seat venue but Everton’s waterfront property will only transform the club’s fortunes if their owner can really maximise its benefits. And that means turning it into an asset that is used every day, not once a fortnight.

With that in mind, TFG is looking to increase the club’s footprint at the docklands site, most likely by buying the land around Nelson Dock, which is immediately to the south of Bramley-Moore Dock, to create more space for the type of entertainment and leisure offering any venue-operator must provide these days to make the sums add up.

There are also whispers — and that is all they are at present — that TFG might want to increase the stadium’s capacity at some point, which will not be easy given the tight constraints of the site and the design of the £750million building. There is, however, some scope to expand the stadium’s east side but only if there is genuine demand for it, as it would not be cheap.

I’ve loved every single bit about BMD, but them lights look well below par.

Hopefully as others have said, that’s not the final look.

A diffused hue appearance would look loads better. That current look cheapens the appearance of what is a wonderful stadium.

Runs…

Unless we start winning stuff, any money would be better off spent adding a roof and perhaps digging down the pitch area to enable it to dissappear into the ground as per Madrid's. That way we create a true multifunctional stadium that can have events on in the fortnight between home games.
I guess any plans TFG may have are still pretty under wraps, so there's no doubt a lot of half-heard, twice-repeated hearsay at the moment.

It'll be interesting to see what they do do. They are clearly series about infrastructure.

I've got to be honest, the thought of the club - or at least the club's owners - owning the development of Nelson Dock is very exciting.

That south view of the ground, reflected in Nelson Dock, is iconic. It needs to be protected - with the stadium as the focus. The club owner would know that better than any other developer who just wants to cash in on the proximity. They aren't going to fill that dock with sand.

It makes absolute sense for them to look at developing around the stadium rather than wait for others to capitalise on it instead.

I think in Peels masterplan they have mainly resi proposed for Nelson Dock, but i think a mixed-use development that has a resi and commercial offering (office, retail, food/drink) would do well, particularly as more of the surrounding area is developed over the coming years.

Something along the lines of Media City at Salford Quays perhaps.

As when Everton came in with the proposal for BMD, Peel will merrily chuck out whatever plans they might have had as soon as someone is willing to do something seriously with Nelson Dock.
