New Everton Stadium

There was quite a long period of silence following that decision, then almost out of nowhere, 61,878 was no-more and the revised figure of 52,888 appeared,
Nobody, not one single person, from the Club ever stated that 61878 would be the capacity.
That was me.
I started that particular shout on here.
Loads of times and everyone jumped in it.

I'm not on X, what were the 2nd and 3rd posts Meiss put out mate?
He just goes on to explain that it was a complex decision with several factors involved and anyone suggesting incompetence on the clubs part is wrong. If you go back to the original article it was a story about "A whisper" that TFG are looking at surrounding land and the possibility of expansion and spreadsheets appears to have done his usual and taken that as they think the stadium is too small.

You may have, but the initial design was for over 60k.... heard several people use 61,878 at the time of those initial consultations.

Yes the 60k idea was mooted by the club but it was me and me alone who started the 61878, even to the point of bombarding Dan Meis with tweets to make it so.

60k was more than mooted. It was fully drawn up and the rendered imagery was used throughout the initial consultation processes, and even in the much later roadshow.

John Blain also used 61878 at several early meetings on the subject and he always says he's never used this forum, but he is an avid user of twitter, so maybe he saw your number there.

Going to say exactly that. It's utter hearsay. It's good business to do the studies, but no way do they come in to a new build and say we are going to turn it into a building site for the next 2 years.

They'll want to see how the fan plaza performs before eating into that space and that's going to take a few years to shake out. In that time things could completely change again.
No but feasibility studies now at least show they are forward thinking. I’m sure if they have done it (as it’s all conjecture from an article written in NY Times / The Athletic) they will only do it if they can increase the quality, success and value of the footballing side of things that make the cost of such an increase financially viable, this to me appears to be an indication (if true) of a multi year plan, which we never had under past and existing regimes.
