New Everton Stadium

Hi so I hear peel is sitting on all the land at the docks and won't sell , is there a reason why he won't sell to Everton? Is there other projects in line?

There is always the outside chance that Everton/Moshiri and the council, plus developers/external investors, could turn SC into a top new destination. Rather than us being out in the sticks, it may become a go-to place.

Only question is: are there any other brand new developments in the UK which have turned a bad area into a genuinely good attractive destination? Most new towns are pretty bland, like Welwyn Garden City, or hideous like Basildon or Skem.

It's not about whether they moved or not. My point is that a city centre location is not a golden goose. If we don't have success on the pitch, it won't matter where the ground is.

Yes I've been to Old Trafford many times and the surrounding area is also an out of town dump

Haha this is hilarious. You need to open your eyes or even get a proper look around rather than heading straight for the old streets of Old Trafford
I live in Salford Quays Media City
Cinemas theatres art galleries
The BBC the restaurants the fantastic transport options .... Voted one of the top 5 places to live in the country in the last 2 years ... Totally an out of town dump..... all pretty much envisioned and managed by Peel

It's nice round there. Plus I loved going CAU till one opened in Liverpool

If we went to Croxteth the team would have to be amazing for anyone other than die hard fans to go. It's a massive risk. You've got more chance of ending up like Sunderland and Middlesbrough who have out of town stadiums where you have to go by car and it takes 2 hours to get out after the match so everyone leaves 15 minutes from the end to get away. Also their attendances fluctuate massively depending on how the team is doing.

If we had a destination stadium at the docks you would get decent attendances whenever, as tourists would go, and fans of other teams who were visiting Liverpool. For example I'm talking with my lad about going to Wembley to see Spurs and The Olympic Stadium to see West Ham.

Answers my post above. If SC became a high-quality destination like Salford Quays, with a top stadium at its heart, I could go for that.

I'm hoping for a stadium at the Docks, but I am not close minded about Stonebridge cross, I would like to see a full proposal for the stadium before I have a massive melt down about it. I think its higher risk though, because you are counting on a stadium to regenerate the area around Stonebridge Cross.

I just cannot see any comparison between Salford Quays and SQ. Salford complements an existing, thriving city centre and had at least one blue chip tenant in the BBC to drive growth. SC is more of a distribution hub location and will never compete with Liverpool city centre for premium tenants. IMHO of course.

You ever seen the Isle Of Dogs in the early 80s? No-one would've suspected Canary Wharf would look like it does now. SC might not be competitive right now, but there's always the potential to be something huge.

Yeah, and a different situation in that both teams use the stadium. Still, there wasn't (still isn't, really) much out there apart from the motorway connection, farmland and a few development sites.

Yeah I know it is a pretty barren place. If you use the trains you can get there out out pretty easily and to bars and all the way to central Munich.
