New Everton Stadium

GTF.

We're not having any woolyback sports at the Fourth Grace..

Extra events is how we bring in more money to pay for a better team. It also draws extra eyes on to our ground and might lead to the next bit of business. A rugby league international first, then perhaps a challenge cup final. An England football international, might then turn into a Europa final. A band that you may think is also beneath us, then becomes a world renowned one.

Let's show we can put on a good, profitable show and get the word out there until we become the must book destination.

It appears that the Anfield Road stand was completed this week. Just a reminder these two shots were taken in the same week in early December 2021...

They can have black pudding throwing competitions on it for all I care.

Brings a tear to your eye that. Our old ground and our newest ground alongside each other.

I wonder if Liverpool will ever get round to building a stadium one day?

Let's hope they don't. One of our issues has been to hang on too long when clearly something wasn't fit for purpose.

With the last two upgrades they are never going to be as hamstrung as what we were, they are however leaving money on the table as clearly they'd fill something bigger. The cult of Anfield could become a brick tied around their ankles that sees them fall behind over their immediate rivals. If that coincides with a serious downturn in form over an extended period and a couple of bad owners, along with the iffy workmanship, then it's possible to see how they could get into our sort of death spiral. If you're not ahead of the curve you are likely going backwards.

In hindsight, seeing they made all that space to one side, why didn't they build the main stand more over that way. It would have looked silly to start with, but once they had built the AR (again moved over to the other side) the pitch could have been brought across to nestle against the newer ones, freeing up the space to rebuild the other two stands. All without the need to knock down another 3 streets or build over a road. Oh well their loss.

They did what we did when rebuilding the main stand at goodison … got it wrong didn’t think of the future massively short sighted of them

As the stadium approaches completion and the news of events like these Ashes tests start to ramp up, just a PSA to remind everyone the press will have been sharpening their pencils ready to sensationalise every perceived issue, problem and delay for the last couple of years.

99% of it will be over dramatic 🐮💩, do not allow yourself to be sucked into their narrative.
My money is on a story about the stadium sinking into the dock to hit the front pages before Feb 25, despite their being well known and engineered in settlement expected.

As you were.

Apparently they were looking at extending the SKD Stand but have run into headwinds concerning Skerries Road and Wylva Road compulsory purchasing orders. They're snookered the Kop End too - unless they can build over Oakfield Road and again smash down more properties.

I think that's it for now for them.
