If the area around BMD gets developed it will make it a great place for other events to be held. Hotels and bars and restaurants close buy the stadium will make it a great spot to go to a concert or any other event during the summer which will give us a way to have a stadium that earns some cash outside the football season which we don`t have now, which other teams we are trying to compete with have had for years. Being in a residential area really limits the appeal of holding events there. The other lot have been holding gigs in their place only because there was no other venue that could compete with their facilities. Will be good to see if they can still attract the big gigs so easy when there is another venue in the city that can at least match the pit, but will not have to take into account the local residents (not that its an issue that they think about).
Nearly big enough for a full size pitch I reckon.
Hadn’t been to West Ham (London Stadium) since the first season in 2017, and the difference (from memory) between then and now on the walk along the canal from Hackney Wick was incredible, all the converted barges and trailers to bars and restaurants. Didn’t want to go to the game after a few cold drinks in one of them.
I went once to their new ground and thought is was a much nicer experience than the one to Upton Park. The area when you came off the tube was always very crowded and there was such a visible police presence, did n`t make it the most welcoming place to visit. Saying that, I`d prefer grounds more like Upton park than some of the shiny new stadium that have popped up, it was a proper English style ground and had a great atmosphere, something that lets the new ground down.
