New Everton Stadium

Aren’t these a bit contradictory given the new south stand?
Personally I thing there’s enough breaks in east and west stands to give an appearance of tiered stands.
The overhang at goodison makes it seem like all the fans are on top of the pitch. A single tier will always mean the fans at the back are miles away. See below:

we all support everton and no matter what has been said

we have to go to BMD to watch us play

so it’s irrelevant mate?

An awful lot of things in this world are irrelevant in the big scheme of things, but it doesn't mean they don't get on your nerves or you can't comment on them on a forum like this, mate.

It also makes the game incredibly difficult to watch for thousands of people tucked underneath.

It's a necessary change that I'm glad we've made.

and also a bigger overhang reduces the natural space beneath for bars and hospitality etc, and is also likely to be more expensive as it will require a double layer of cantilevers, one for the upper stand on one for the roof.

How come the away section seems to have a different shade compared to the rest of the ground?
Might still have the plastic bags on them, I know a while back there looked like colour variances on some zones but closer inspection on a vid showed they had ‘clear’ plastic bags over them 🤷‍♂️
Would be surprised if they ultimately are a different shade though.

Just a thought that occurred to me, but does every Evertonian deserve the new stadium? I don't mean its dependent on attendance or anything like that, but there are certain individuals who have done nothing but pour cold water on the whole project since the start. You know the ones, we should have stayed at Goodison and redeveloped, BMD won't get through planning, they've run out of money, it's too big/too small, transport issues, season ticket distribution is unfair, there aren't enough entrances, it will stink from the plant next door etc etc. I know some healthy debate is needed but I honestly know some people who literally have complained and moaned about EVERYTHING. I don't care how good a supporter these people are, just do us a favour and stay away. Rant over.

I've a sneaky feeling that you may be aiming that (partly) at me....

Do you also think that those who continually happy-clapped Kenwright over his long tenure of managed-decline and for his part in the Kings-Dock/Destination-Kirkby debacles should be banned too? Or how about those who actually voted for Kirkby (no-one seems to own up to it nowadays, but more voted for it than against it in the initial ballot)? Should they be banned too for being complicit in the long term damage done to our club? At that rate, you'll be lucky to quarter-fill BMD?

Surely voicing concerns or reservations on a thread about the stadium is what it is for......and not "complaining about everything?". The only sacred cow here is Everton Football Club, and not ANY stadium..... and this isn't meant to be the "happy place" for shell-shocked or subservient blues who question nothing! We're supposed to be discerning!

I had serious reservations regards the finances from the start. I (and apparently every financial institution approached) think they have been seen to be well-founded, with the club completely hamstrung and dragged over the coals to the point of threatening our whole future. The financial benchmark for any new stadium is ALWAYS how it compares to the cost of redevelopment, that is why it always features heavily in that decision for every club. The club skirted around it for both BMD and Destination Kirkby (for slightly different reasons). All clearly shown in both planning applications, with pitiful submissions for that option. BMD has still only been financially possible after it appears that the owner has been forced to take the full hit and absorb the bulk of the resultant debt. Selling the whole club for roughly half of the stadium-build cost alone. At no point was that and all inherent dangers/pain a part of the vision being sold to us. We're still not fully out of the woods yet, but hopefully we can now come out of the other side. The transport strategy has also come in for increased scrutiny as both lacking in substance and in part appearing to be contradictory. Hopefully greater clarity will be provided soon, and any issues identified and resolved before it opens fully.

I was also part of the KEIOC campaign who were instrumental in the defeat of the Destination Kirkby project, providing easily the biggest body of evidence at the public Inquiry. The same group who first approached Peel regards a stadium on the Central Dock estate..... both events helping to pave the way to BMD. Do I get your special dispensation? Regardless, (barring divine intervention) I will be there, just as I was at West Ham last week and all but 3 home games (apart from when at sea) for the past 50+yrs.

I think one of those new statues at BMD on the blue brickwork should be of Tom.

Noooooo, Tom. It is most definitely not. You are not one of those people I've described. You had a thing about staying at Goodison and that's fine (even though I disagree) but I don't see you as being totally against every thing about BMD, at all. Sorry if it came across that way. Your posts are always well worth reading. Thanks.
