New Everton Stadium

Because the views are unrestricted - unless people stand as often happens for corners & penalties.

Nobody habitually stands in the Upper Gwladys either, nor in fact in ALL other parts of the ground too. Why would they? Most people only stand in the lower Gwladys because it's a fairly poor view and once a few stand, everyone behind them has to. The front few rows often remain seated.

If everyone stands in the upper South Stand, where does that standing zone end? It's a continuous seated bowl. How will the standing continue up to and around the corner sections? Will many of those paying high prices there want to routinely stand, in a tier where they can see perfectly well while seated? I haven't noticed, but does everyone stand throughout the match at Spurs' South Stand (above its super-riser)? Yes, if you design and market the South stand as a true all-standing area with defined boundaries that do not impose standing on those who want sit, then fair enough, but I don't think that's the case at BMD. I could be wrong, but I think most people read Upper Gwladys/Park-end for Upper South Stand. Strangely, Richard Kenyon said recently that when asked, far from all Lower Gwladys Street Season ticket holders stated a preference to transfer to the South Stand safe-standing area. So, 5,000-6,000 might suffice.

I'd be quite surprised if many of those who stood regularly in the 80s would choose to stand regularly again.

We are old now and most of us have as many bad memories as good of the experience. The club asked specific questions on demand for standing in their fan surveys as part of the planning process. They found only limited demand for it and have scaled the provision accordingly. It can be adjusted in the North lower easily enough if demand increases once fans see it used/experience it.

Can't wait for the prices to drop
Normally they would be out there now looking for to get the season ticket money in the bank. Considering every season ticket holder will be looking at finding a new seat you`d think they might of got working on it earlier than usual. The club told us we`d be moving in in August for 2025/26 season so there`s no excuse for not having prices up already.

Spurs have always had persistent standing at the old WHL not just behind the goals but also along the old east stand on the side. They've had the issue like with West Ham when fans who buy season tickets in standing areas or seating areas in new stadium where many want to stand and causing frictions and arguments. Hopefully Everton will discourage anyone wanting to buy in the south stand lower or upper it should be obvious anywhere with rail seating but in the actual seats further back maybe towards the front people will also want to stand.

The Old East Stand Shelf was the equivalent of the Gwladys Street end. That was where the atmosphere came from. Didn't notice any standing on the sides at Spurs this year.

Haha

Relegation would be bad, would have been bad last season, worse the one before and the very worst 3 years ago. At least the stadium is finished. We're in a better place already.

As long as the takeover happens, our debt is mostly being wiped out. Most of our players are out of contract anyhow and the stadium will be online to cover some of the losses in income.

It was last year it would have killed us.
