New Everton Stadium

Only on special event days it will be closed. Obviously if you run a concert, be it within the stadium or fan plaza, you can't allow others to enter the site.

*but I agree with Dr Baxter that it will close when the restaurants/bars and perhaps shop shuts late at night. That's just sensible.

Obviously if there's an outdoor event on the concourse area then access will be restricted.

Outside of that I cant think of a solitary reason to deny access. People will talk about security no doubt in terms of the times we live in, but the footprint of plenty of top flight clubs (ours included) can be accessed now with no such security issues.

I'm very suspicious of walls and how they can be used.

Much ado about nothing. If the club want to actively demonstrate they've learned anything it'll be that the place needs to be a revenue stream at least 6 days a week or more. I expect the pump house to be a merch facility with a historical slant; the North gate being left open to direct you that way on your path to the stadium. They're going to have to find a way to amortize running costs and being closed all week won't help with that.

Yes, that's a good point...and maybe the reason that entrances will remain open. I cant remember now if there's a club store at the new stadium. That'd ensure access.

I like the exterior but for some reason i find the stadium from actual pitch side to be a bit underwhelming for some reason.

It just looks a bit generic the stands seem too small for some reason. The newer Spurs stadium actually looks more impressive to me.

Of course i'm sure it's going to be different when a match is on there, and it is supposed to be a modern stadium and that's what modern stadiums look like after all.

We needed a new stadium and we have it now, but there's no harm in acknowledging that the transition from Goodison to the new place might be a bit awkward at first.

It's a whole new stadium and a whole new vibe.
Like the Tottenham stadium, interesting

I'm interested to see how they intend to utilize the pump house if that's the intent.

It will be one of the interesting choices whether it will be a cafe/bar or museum. The question is will people walk around to the bars/restaurants in the West Stand to enable them to keep open all week? Whereas perhaps people would be more inclined to pop into the pump house for a quick one.

I suppose it is on us as Evertonians to try and keep these things financially viable if the club do open the facilities.

...which will be opened on non-matchdays?

It will.

Something occurred to me recently. Do any of the hospitality suites have a dance floor? I'm no Fred Astaire, but if they are looking to hire out parts of the stadium for weddings, retirement parties etc you would imagine it would be something you'd expect to find.

It'll have floor space for a dance floor. 99% of venues have space where the client hires the dance floor from an external provider or the venue itself hires it out.

I've no doubt Everton will employ a couple of experienced wedding co-ordinators and sales team for the weddings, plus they'll have the catering service in house. It's an ideal location to get married, it's why the Titanic has always been a very popular wedding location. Everton will know they can certainly tap into that market a lot more than they could at Goodison.

We are the only club in the city to have built 3 grounds 😂👍
I’d say 4 as the women’s ground at Walton Hall Park is actually classed as a stadium as well 🤣🤣

That would be a major mistake.

Time will tell but I just think even an area as big as the fan plaza being open house on a match day (particularly when the ground is new) is fraught with problems. The entrance and exit gates are designed for 53,000. Imagine if 10,000 extra tuned up for the first game just to have a close look at the new ground (by no means an impossibility). It becomes a health and safety issue.

I fully expect the plaza to be open on non-match/non-event days and look forward to having a 99er (or maybe even a raspberry Mivvi) on a summer's afternoon looking out over the river.

I feel the same with the North Stand (think there were certain restrictions which meant it couldn't be better size wise) but that stand is very underhelming to me.

I like the rest of the stands though and feel people are judging a bit early since it hasn't had any branding or anything added to it. One thing I am interested in is if it will have anything Everton related on the seating because that is what helps provide more character. Though interestingly, there is none of that at Spurs' new Stadium, I think they have relied on Tifo at times. You can see on this picture that there is nothing on the seats that relates to Spurs.

Having visited Spurs' Stadium a few times though, the novelty has well and truly worn off. It may be a fantastic structure and overall Sporting arena but it's full of daytrippers and isn't intimidating in the slightest. I think our Stadium will be far more iconic as an actual Football Stadium.

I think provided there’s no vandalism, eg ‘6’ sprayed somewhere like on the tower, the wall gates will be open most days in line with the shop opening times.
I think the wall will be used as a barrier if there are pay on entry/ticket ‘non football’ events either inside the ground or on the plaza itself.
