New Everton Stadium

I'm fairly confident I read that the LCRCA were committed to supporting with improved transportation in the planning process, and that bus routes were part of this.

There is planned work for Sandhills (new covering for the weather), and buses should be able to run up and down the Dock Road to the ground.

I think the only issue will be how busy the junction of the Strand, Leeds St. and Great Howard St. may be, but it's better than walking.
Hope there is cover for the marshalling area they are building. I have tried to find out for sure but drawn a blank. World of difference stood in the rain for 20/30 minutes and stood outside under cover.

I was told back in January 2024 (see below) that it would be covered. At the same time, I was told the wait may be 30+ minutes, yet this has been changed to 45.
To the best of my knowledge, the plan for Sandhills is to build a covered waiting area and in the long-term another route up to the platforms from Errington St.

If people are expecting to get to the station and on the train relatively quickly, like currently at Kirkdale or Bank Hall, then people are going to be sadly mistaken.

If people want to leave the ground straight at the end of the game, the expected wait time could be 30 mins+.

Interesting. Thanks for that. Another station at Ten Streets should be built (and the new ground is only one of those reasons). Sadly, we don't get much in the way of railway investment locally.

A station alongside the tobacco warehouse would be ideal. Roughly halfway from the stadium and ten streets. Lots of old buildings that would make great conversions into residential buildings. There's the canal there as well... So much potential.

It could become a really smart neighborhood with quick access into town. Just like the Baltic station on the other side.

Think I asked this previous, we had the derby game cancelled last minute because the weather (excessive wind) rolled in and conditions for travel and crowd control were considered unsafe.

How much worse is the wind and the cold at BMD please?

Some while back (vs some russian team, think Duffy got an OG) was sat in the nose bleeds in the park end, and the cold and frost rolled in direct with the wind and was shivering down to the bone. Something similar high in the main stand iirc vs newcastle or hull maybe. Blistering cold.

Does BMD offer much shelter compared to Goodison?

I'm not sure anyone can answer that yet. Even the workers working on it haven't experienced it in real world conditions (ie matchday).

Logic would tell us that it'll obviously be colder and more windy in general terms, and I'm sure there must be some weather stations on the banks of the river vs city centre that could be used for comparison, but you can counter that with the roof being consistently the same size/width etc which you'd think will give some protection from the elements vs relative openness of Goodison.

Hopefully the glass panes at either end don't melt some poor sods, in the summer (that'll be the next rumour when the weather heats up).

To the best of my knowledge, the derby was called off because of a mixture of issues that meant they could not guarantee enough stewards and staff.

It was an early kick-off, and there were multiple railway lines closed, so it was postponed; if the game had been 3pm or later, it may have been played.

The Palace game back in 2013 (or '14) was called off because slates had been knocked off a roof onto Goodison Road.

So, do we need one of the youth keepers practising daily in all conditions hitting the target from our 18 yard line? Learn the regular conditions, make home advantage count. There's the 'bounce' factor to consider as well, The dock isn't terra ferma so to speak, will it be consistent or will there be flat spots or excessive bounce areas.
