New Everton Stadium

There's no chance the government would even consider blocking or creating hassle over a stadium in the current economic climate.

It would also significantly shorten the timeframe on the development. And save cost.

The stadium would be in the boundaries of the enterprise zone, which one of the caveats is reduction in planning regulations. I'm not sure if the stadium would fall under this category as there is certain stipulations within this and the stadium was not part of the original submission

Well, obviously there's all the planning hurdles to cross first (environmental, architectural stuff etc.), but if you're talking about the 'calling in' stuff that happened to Kirkby, then yeah, no chance.

@Jacko93 intimated that as long as the laid down rules/parameters were met, it wouldnt be an issue.

This is supposition by myself though, based purely on the fact that none of these discussions have happened without the knowledge of LCC, and have in fact been encouraged by them. The parties involved here will not be too happy at wasted time in discussing the impossible. There is a lot of work gone into anything like this, in many cases years prior to anything going public with people 'greasing the wheels' (non corrupt way) to ensure all parties are satisfied that there is no reason to not continue outside of mutual future agreements.

Dunno mate. I guess the rules are centrally laid down, and as long as LCC are happy they are met, then start the cement mixers.

I think the Home Office only get involved if objections mean LCC decline permisson, and the club can apply to them direct.

I think.

There was much more at stake with Kirkby as it was more to do with local livelihood being drawn out toward Kirkby cause of the Tesco. That's something that the Government are more likely to get involved in as it almost became an arbitrator over two seperate areas.

The docks is an area earmarked for development that has always included several different sectors, business, retail and social. It will be very difficult to argue against this based on that. IMO.

So, the wider our plans, to include retail, busines, social, accommodation, transport improvements etc, the greater the chance of a speedy success.

Sounds great!!

I know a lot of people would probably come in via Limestreet station or coming out from some pub in central Liverpool, but how is transportation links for 55,000 people and what is a likely improvement of transportation? Could imagine Regent Road would be filled with people walking to the game and Grt Howard street would have to absorb almost all of the traffic..

The traffic is major concern for both patries, especially with L2 being on line
