New Everton Stadium

Goodison is used approx 20 or so times a year dependent on cup runs/draws.

New stadium could be used 365 days a year.

Thats the difference.

I don't think and Prem club would want the pitch used 365 days a year, and 'other uses' of the stadium are dependent of facilities and the proximity of other competitive arenas (e.g. the Echo Arena). Man City get about one pop concert a year, and not a lot else apart from the usual use of function rooms. I've always felt that this 'multiple use/'365 days a year' is virtually impossible to achieve for any stadium(there may be exceptions). Its the match day and function facilities that bring in the extra revenue, and a successful team contributes to this.

That's also why I think, sadly, we wouldn't be able to rebuild Goodison and stay there, it would fail today's safety rules on access and space around it.

Yep - look at the Ricoh, once Coventry left, the stadium basically had no revenue for a year.

There would be all sorts of rules and regs about non football use, especially concerts, but it could make money a lot more often than Goodison can/does.

when the King's Dock stadium was being muted weren't they considering some kind of interchangeable base mechanism ?

It's obviously good business to maximize the use of the facility.

Yeah I think millennium stadium has a removable pitch. I remember going to a couple of gigs there and was stood on concrete. Wembley too maybe (?? Can't remember).

Such pitches are very expensive, so I doubt we'll be seeing that at our sort of budget.

Ah feck, can you imagine the car crash that will be if Elstone is involved in those negotiations for naming rights!

And in very serious mode, don't get too carried away on how much naming rights will raise. Some people would have you and the club believe that absolute bucketloads of money can be achieved, but asked yo put their money where their mouth is, they run for the hills. Naming rights is not the pot of gold some would have you and Elstone believe it is !!!

Yeah wasn't that what went wrong at Newcastle? Mike Ashley went looking for someone to name St J's Park and then when nobody made a decent offer he put his own company on there to save face?

What you're saying makes sense then.

The thing is that there are individuals/companies who will tell Elstone and co that naming rights could raise huge numbers, but if challenged to stump up say 65% of what they say they could raise and anything over that, they could keep they will run a mile and further cos they talk nonsense. Nobody, but nobody should get carried away over naming rights revenue. Naming rights will raise revenue, but it's not the Klondyke numbers some would have you believe.
