New Everton Stadium

...I wouldn't knock those that want terracing, it has just never appealed to me even when I was a youngster. I do think the safety factor shouldn't be forgotten, although I'm sure lessons have been learned in that respect.

Used to be damn scary in a surge. And nowadays, we are seeing far more women & children at the matches so I just don't think there is any place in the modern game for standing in the top leagues any more

I'm sure somebody here works for UU and said that smell is self contained. Also heard that it's molasses that's the smell?

Any new stadium should be future-proofed as much as possible and that means easy provisionning to install 'safe-standing'. Would be stupid of the club not to.
I work near Sand hills mate and it's deffo the sewage works, its not all the time so maybe there's only certain processes that produce the smell but its there have no doubt.

...I agree but there appears a demand. I doubt that demand is strong enough to make terracing happen for Everton but we need to respect that some fans want it.

Wonder how many of those actually stood and got carried 20 yards or more in a surge (never mind having pee against them) or just like the idea of standing without actually experiencing it?

ehh, if it's ever brought in then have a mix of standing and seating stands
i'd quite like it I think as games where the crowd is stood up the whole time (like man city last season in the LG) are just immense
when the second went in I got carried about 2 rows back and it was ace

....to be fair that was when I was watching, from what I understand the numbers are limited and barriers located to avoid that type of impact.

...I've been watching footy since the early 60s and I've always preferred sitting to watch a game. It's obviously a personal preference but standing in a crowd to watch a game has absolutely no appeal at all. Mind you, I've never been one for singing or shouting, just love watching the footy.

bullens then? :P

Sure there are a lot of us on here who used to stand. And the crush barriers did work but it was never a pleasant feeling being carried along without being able to do anything about it. One reason why I always tried to stand towards the back if I could even at the expense of a better view

...I think that would be the intention, from what I know a number of clubs abroad (Germany?) have small standing only sections behind the goals.

I personally don't think it'll come to that, but I think your post certainly shows the current frustrations with the running of the club.

As I said in a different thread, I don't think we'll see wholesale changes in the club until there is a sea change in the board.

Thank god it will never go back to terraces like it used to be, the safe standing method would likely be rail seating where if you had a row of 30 seats you would probably have 50 or so people standing in the same area.

Shouldn't be any surges but might encourage more rowdy behaviour. In Germany when they are in safe standing mode the ticket price is reduced to compensate for not having a seat and the fact the club can make more money having more punters through the door. Bet they wouldn't discount in this country!!

I'm cheese on toast on this one, if it's just an area behind a goal then you pay your money and take your choice. I wouldn't take any kids into that end though.

I agree until the board is shaken, nothing will change. I'm just disappointed in Moshiri who I believed would genuinely be different, but so far his quotes and way of doing things are Kenwright esq
