New Everton Stadium

An announcement by October would be fantastic. A new stadium would/will be the single most significant thing to happen to us short of winning the league. Managers and players come and go, but this is something that would be part of our identity as a club for 100+ years.

It's a game-changer for us in my opinion not so much on the financial side but in terms of image, reputation, and prestige. We really need to be back up there with a home that can stand equal to, or surpass, our peers. The one advantage of being a late mover in this respect is that we can avail of the latest thinking in terms of design and structure and will hopefully create something that stands out not just for Evertonians, but for all. The waterfront location would just add to the stand-out appeal that would be tremendous for everything to do with the club.

I really can't wait for the announcement and to get that first glimpse of what the envisaged design would be. I just hope that it is not a bowl of any sort and that we can create a stadium which is great to watch football in but intimidating to away teams.
Signal-Iduna Park / Westfalenstadion is probably the best in that regard but it will be fascinating to see the design concept and the influences behind it. I would favour a capacity of 50,000 - 55,000 with flexibility to upgrade - that would be perfect for us into the medium-term.

By November then not October.

On the waterfront?

I may be wrong but I would expect that the date of the end of October has come from the dates for the Stadium Design Summit held in Manchester. There is a quite a leading line at the end of the Everton section in their programme which simply says "Will we hear anything about their future stadium plans...."

I clearly have no idea on plans for announcements but it would be interesting if they announced it then to the delegates, as straight after the Goodison tour, they will be walking over to FC Big Stand to see what they have done. Would be nice for the lasting impression on them that day/weekend to be of the future of Everton.

It would make sense for any announcement to coincide with the Stadium Design Summit. There's also (assuming last year's timetable is kept) an upcoming AGM in November - last year's was November 23rd.

Ha ha FC Big Stand, brilliant.

FC big stand, love it. @Jacko93

Not that i would stop anyone else but I've always been a bit uncomfortable with taking the mick with them for this. When our main stand went up in the early 70's it must have been almost the same thing back then.

All we can hope for is in 40 years time we have become the biggest club on Merseyside (again!) and have a stunning complete stadium and they're left with an ageing and rundown red crap hole. ;)

Bit like yer ma.

Hahahhahaha

No that's right mate, your ITK chum from EiTC who will know absolutely nothing of the inner workings of the club is also whispering tosh in your ear
unfortunately that is where you are wrong, you right in that my mate doesn't know the inner workings, but the guy who told him certainly does, I have told @The Esk who the main source is, and I am more than happy that he would know what's happening

...end of October is when the Reds are getting new urinals in the Kop so unfortunately the timing means we won't get a mention in the Echo. Never mind.

Here's the plans for FC Big Stands new urinals, nice to see they are keeping the Kop tradition alive.

Hahaha

I'm going to go with ex-Everton professional of very high standing in our history who also has a track record for leaking ropey info.

And you're hearing it all third hand too. Sublime ITKing
