I don't mind at all if the naming rights are sold by the time a new stadium is ready, we need to adopt a ruthless attitude when it comes to maximising revenue, from whatever source. We have, pardon the pun, a lot of ground, to make up.
I would like it if the stadium could encompass something unique from a design/architectural viewpoint, to draw attention to it and raise our profile amongst football fans and non-fans alike. I would like more of an events arena than merely a football ground too, again to maxmise revenue and build brand recognition for our home as a world-class, multi-use arena/centre.
The other things that come to mind would be to have the stadium/arena very vividly and outwardly recognisable as being Everton's. Be this merely through a creative use of lighting and the club name/crest being clearly visible from afar/from the air - just to create a landmark that people look out for and want to see.
Additionally, some other inclusion of our heritage could be built into the new ground - one of the corners could be modelled on Prince Rupert's Tower for example which would again provide a focal point and be very distinctive.
Outside of football, I have a bit of an obsession with lights and lasers and whilst too much of that is overbearing, I don't think lighting is utlilised at all well in sporting venues and would be a clever way to add another element of uniqueness both outside and inside the stadium.
When I went to the san siro, they had a spiral staircase to exit the ground. If we could incorporate this 'Rupert tower spiral' type design, it would give it a touch.
