New Phone

You good people of GOT always come up trumps when I ask your technological advice, so Im leaving now but want yo to ponder dis.

Im going to buy a new phone and despite saying I wouldnt I want one of them swanky touch screen ones. Ive been looking at ipods and them HTC Hero things but basically I want one that:

Lets me type easily enough for texts and emails.

Is an alright mp3 player.

Has easy to use contacts.

Can support Word & Excel, and as a clincher - sync with Outlook.

Works in US, Mexico and other like places.


Obviously it has to be sim free and if it fits all the above then price is not a problem as my PDA is on its way out so it would serve a dual purpose.

If you can be arsed, nice one.

Typing on a touchscreen is a nightmare, for that reason I would advise the Nokia 9000

Nightmare it may be Danny, but it's the future. Within 5 years your going to see a computer with no keyboard.

I just got a Samsung Tocco Ultra on 12mnth contract from mobiles.co.uk (theyre a subsidary of Carphone Warehouse). Its touchscreen but its got a slide out keypad too (old skool vert type), however i find it easier to txt with touchscreen. Music player is decent and its got a really good 8mp camara. I get 300mins/unlimted txts/unlimited internet, and 11months free by redemption.

Edit: on account of being an idiot i didnt read your post properly, so didnt see that stuff about word etc. I lose

some of the s.e. p'series ones run word/excel etc etc

i had a p910i followed by a p990i but just got brassed with heaving a brick around so went for the c902, as i never used the functions of the smartphones. the 990i is wifi as well though which is handy for internet, it's unused in a box actually 'cos it got replaced the week before i could upgrade, keep saying i'll sort it out to use as a web browser/ organiser.
i would imagine the latest s.e. ones will have lost some of the bulk by now as these are quite old but were doing shiz years ago that others are only just starting to do.

i do know you have a bit of brand loyalty regarding phones.

Been rocking the IPhone since it came out and it's a breeze. You have to ge used to the touch screen a bit but after that little adjustment, you're off. Besides - cool games etc...

Chicks dig them too.

Nokia N97 mate, does everything you wanted and when you flip the screen up, it looks like the world's smallest laptop.... bossness

Hello, I will give my thought. My phone is a brand LG. It is good! I can send a message and take a picture. It can sometimes be in a no signal place but after that it is good. It is also strong because I dropped it from a tree and it does not break.

I'll just go on the record of saying I hate cell phones...best feature is how aerodynamic it is as throwing distance is everything with me.

Worst invention of all time...
