Relatively new Evertonian. Started following the club midway through Moyes's reign. How I became a blue is a bit of a story.
I run a picture frame shop in Victoria, B.C. Canada. A few years back, one of my fairly steady customers was a fella by the name of David France. He and his wife Elizabeth, would come and frame all sorts of things, none of them football related. One particular time he brought in an a commendation, given to him by the city of Liverpool. I knew next to nothing about Liverpool, but I did watch a TV program once, starring Robbie Coltrain, that was set in the city. One of the episodes featured a villain that was sending letter bombs to people. While he waited for the explosions, he would rock back and forth chanting " Go Reds". I'd heard of LFC and didn't know Everton existed. So I blurt out "Go Reds". Silence from David. Elizabeth shoots back "Go Blue". Together we decide how best to frame the document, and they leave.
Curious I decide to google David's name and I find out about Everton and Evertonians, and the fact that I had just insulted one of the bluest blues. The more I researched the club the more at home I felt. I have always been a sports fan, so had some knowledge of the EPL, but now it, or more precisely, Everton have become an obsession.
David and Elizabeth have since moved, firstly to the San Juan Islands, and more recently to Sedona. I hear his health isn't the best. I wish him well.
Before Grandoldteam I have been posting on ToffeeWeb. It's getting very bitter there; perhaps it's a little more balanced here.
