Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

There's a part of it that I find genuinely disheartening

That horrible fat git is lauding it over an entire City of people who have no real recourse to do much about it

Football shouldn't be like that. There should be mechanisms in place for supporters to fight back against these sorts of people

Part of me feels that way also. But then they really brought this on themselves, they flipping loved him when he took over and then did nothing when it became clear that he was basically running St. James' Park like a Sports Direct, did nothing when he had Wonga on the shirts, did nothing when he tried to rename the stadium... etc etc etc.

They also continue to believe that they're a massive club just waiting for success to find them in the face of all available evidence. Like when Rangers died (I used to cycle home past Ibrox when I lived up there. That was a weird day), I struggle to have any sympathy.

I disagree to a certain extent, in that the Rangers support were by and large slavishly devoted to Murray and yelled down anyone who tried to bring up the finance issue and completely bought in to "The Succulent Lamb" that was going round. To this day a lot of them blame it all on White and seemingly absolve Murray of all complicity for the club going under

The Newcastle the fans have been vocally against Ashley for a while now and I find them to be less complicit in the situation than the Rangers fans were. You feel like the Rangers support might have been able to achieve something if they'd been on the ball quick enough, but I'm not sure what the Geordies could have done

I should be clearer, I'm not saying the two situations are the same. Merely pointing out that the two clubs seem to attract more than their share of knobhead fans and an unshakeable belief that their club is different and better to all the other ones. So I find it hard to feel bad for them. Especially when they were all on board with being owned by representatives of a regime that makes Mike Ashley look like Santa Claus a few weeks ago.

That's fair

I personally see Newcastle fans as just generally being more deluded and overly optimistic than being genuinely nasty, something I couldn't really say about the worst of the Rangers faithful

Therefore I find it a bit easier to sympathise with the Geordies than I did the Gers

No chance
Surely it'll all be resolved before the premier league have to actually get involved. Would be more pragmatic for all involved. Newcastle are such a basket case at the minute that they could do without any more of these distractions dragging them down even further.

I'm even beginning to lose my amusement over how badly they seem to be being run at the moment.

Genuinely starting to feel kind of sorry for their fan base. It's a testament to just how much of a blight on humanity Mike Ashley really is

I just don't share the hate for whatever reason

Probably dislike Boro more than Newcastle

I don't hate them. I quite like to visit Newcastle. But their sense of delusion and the idea that a massive stadium allows them to punt money they don't have at players without any European football to offer just because they're Newcastle United is hilarious.

Call it schadenfreude.
