Why would you want Moyes when there are better managers out there. We're in a better position now, why (in my opinion) should we go backwards.

That's your opinion mate, i only see Jose on that list who's better than Moyes imo.

Why would you give him money when there may only be a chance he may be up to it. He had money at Utd and didn't do anything. In his time at Everton even clubs like Swansea and Wigan won a trophy. Moyes was the right man at the right time, but not anymore.

Mediocrity is no longer accepted.

You think he was given a fair chance at Utd ?

A think if Koeman chooses to stay at Southampton then Mancini will come into the running. Prem experience, won titles and knows how to organise a defence. Remember someone saying he was friends with Moshiri and only has 12 months on his contract too.

IMHO Moyes is in the same category as Hughes. A cut above mediocre and suggests the limit of our ambition is a top ten finish every year. Sadly Koeman is only one rung on the ladder above those two. The others on the many lists would point to a little more ambition even if it is excitement around the less well known. Given the need for rejuvenation of the club the Moyes/Hughes types are not those sort of managers clearly.

@Francis_Blue your posting seems very negative you don't want Mourinho, Koeman, or Emery because they're too unrealistic. You want Moyes as our manager, Osman to be given one more year, and Hibbert to become a coach. I doubt you want us to move to a waterfront location, just somewhere quiet and out of the way.

Indeed I like Mourinho, if he can come to be our new manager, I am glad to hear this news, but I actually think that it is unrealistic.

Koeman is a good manager, but he said he will not come, I cannot force him to accept? Right?

Emery win a trophy, he pay an effort in youth players and he is good in tactic, I think he is suitable for us, but he can play Champion league next season, I don't think he will come.

It is very hard to select a new manager, I prefer Pellegrini if he will pay an effort on youth players and their development, or Lucien Favre?

You think he was given a fair chance at Utd ?

Not really but he had 11 years here at and the 1st opportunity to hop skip and jump he was gone faster than a rat up a drain pipe

knife to a gun fight lark, he was always under selling us with the plucky little everton thing and that. now we got some moolah he wants back in....hmm no thanks were fishing in a bigger pond now

It's all smoke and mirrors, boys, smoke and mirrors! Things are afoot and the next Manager could be a real left field appointment.

FWIW, and I'm not saying he is my personal choice but I have an inkling Favre may be in the frame.

It's a great game this - I just wonder how long Everton can stretch it out before we're all dragged off by the men in the white coats.

I agree with you. Although Moyes may not the most suitable candidate of our new manager, he did a great work in Everton, he had no money to spend unless he sell the "star player" in our team, he still built a strong team under this situation. I have no blame to him until now.

He seem not respect us enough when he went to Man Utd, I feel disappointed actually, but I don't think Moyes is really very poor performance in Man Utd, he sign Fellaini only, but reached the same level as van Gaal who spend more than 200m, and Moyes took Man Utd into final 8 in the Champion League too which cannot achieved by Wenger recent years.
He never reached the same level as LVG

Genuine question here; anyone who follows Guardiola and his career - what is he like with the youth players?

There is a good book about his start at Bayern called Pep Confidential, it said he spotted one of the youth players was showing potential and spent a lot of individual time with him to bring him on quicker.

But apart from that one guy and using random youngsters to make up the numbers in some training sessions, my understanding was he only concentrated on 1st team players and tactics.

You think he was given a fair chance at Utd ?
Personally I think we're in a far better position now, can aim a lot higher and shouldn't go back, but Moyes was the right man first time round and did do well to steer us from the real depths to which we'd sunk, for that I'll always be grateful. He didn't have a lot of money to spend at Utd as little Ralphy mentioned, in fact comparatively little compared to LvG.

So he did a decent job for the first few years of his time here and did ok at Utd on a limited budget, with Sociedad he did get them to midtable after he took over with them in relegation trouble, so it wasn't all bad.

I'm not an ardent Moyes fan either as he couldn't take us on or win anything and some of the football wasn't always great - there are lots of criticisms, but won't rewrite history either.

Yep, said we were holding back Baines and Fellaini by not selling them to him. Seems a bit tacky that for a man who held Everton close to his heart and was fantastically paid and had zero pressure put on him to perform.

Has bombed since in 2 jobs too, so not really sure why you would want him, unless your only aim for Everton was safety first and familiarity.
Not only is it classless to go after your old clubs players like that. It shows a lack of confidence in his own ability in working with other (better) players.

Limited budget at utd? He spent the best part of 65mil in a single season
