I've not been following events too closely the last couple of days, so it's possible that I've missed something, but I don't see any facts here, only supposition and speculation, with a splash of wishful thinking.

We don't know who Everton want. They're probably deciding around now which candidates they want to interview. There's not been any firm indication that Jose will be on that list.

What Jose really wants has to be total speculation, I agree it seems reasonable to assume United are his first choice, but Everton second ? I doubt it very much. Valencia are offering bags of money and no doubt he'll have several other good offers by now.

While I'm not ruling Koeman out by any means, it's not so obvious to me that he would be interested.

I can't agree with you more.

Don't think Jose is happening ... Is De Boer a risk or if Mourniho name never came up would we as fans have been happy with De Boer ? Hopefully over the next seven days we will have someone in place ... Whoever does come in we need to row in behind him because he has a job on his hands ...

FdB is a big gambling, he didn’t manage a club outside the Netherlands, I doubt whether Farhad Moshirì would choose him especially when we have experienced the past management of Martinez. I don’t think Farhad Moshirì would like to gamble again.

I agree with you, whoever does come in we need to row in behind him.

De Boer is a gamble, and every gamble could pay off. We would never have known Koeman could manage in the Premier League if he was never given the chance- which arguably due to his failures at Valencia he shouldn't have been given. De Boer is a massive name in his country, not just as a player but also as a manager. He would be a great appointment and nothing less than top 5 next year (i'm assuming this after our squad overhaul) would be guaranteed.

My point is you never know how good something is unless you try it.

Favre meanwhile is less of a gamble, as he has succeeded everywhere he's been. De Boer speaks English obviously, and as far as I'm aware most Swiss people speak fluent English.

Considering Moshiri has wanted this kind of control over a club for quite some time, I'm a bit surprised at the way things are playing out thus far. You'd think he'd have had a firm plan in mind months ago. Think we might see an unexpected hire early next week (along the lines of a Lucien Favre).

The big different between FdB and Koeman is experience. FdB didn't manage a club outside Netherlands, Koeman experienced the league of Spain, Netherlands and Portugal before he managed "The Saints" in Premier League, he managed different clubs for nearly 20 years and hence he is less of a gamble.

I agree with you that Favre is another choice of less of a gamble.

Are we looking for someone that is "less of a gamble" or someone that has the "possibility of higher reward"?

Koeman did not do well in Spain or Portugal, although that's probably down to the language barrier (don't think he speaks Spanish or Portugese). So if we were to compare them solely on their managerial experiences in the Dutch league, De Boer is far more successful.

I disagree when you say gamble with Koeman however. He is the safe option. But I'll once again point out how times have changed. The safe option before Moshiri would've been Howe or Dyche or maybe even Moyes. Now it's Koeman. A massive upgrade from the former three.

The "safe option" meaning what exactly? He won't relegate us?

We know what we get with him. A top 6 team and he could probably get us top 4 with money.
He wouldn't guarantee us that any more than any of the others I would guess.
Value yours, and everyone's opinions, but I don't prefer the use of terms like "safer option" and "less of a gamble" when choosing our next Manager.
We are looking to get to the top with Mr Moshiri apparently.
Which Manager has the ability, temperament and upside to get us there is the decision that needs to be made by the club.
Safe options and less gambles are decisions BK would have made when we were penniless...as he did 3 years ago.

Great post mate - it's exactly my sentiment

I think all of us are past the safe option now.
Now it's about the highest chance of getting us UCL.
I don't think there will be $100m to spend without that expectation.
