People here need to lower their expectations. Martinez took us backwards and delayed progress remember. The next manager will not come from a high profile club to manage a mid table team.

We all look at it differently because we are Everton and we are a big club, but to a 40 year old male who lives in Spain and has played in Italy, Everton are no different than Stoke City or West Brom. Sorry to be blunt about it but to people who do not support Everton, we are a mid table Premiership team
I don't think people see us like Stoke or West Brom but they definitely don't see us how we would like them to see us or how our history should have them seeing us either.

In football it's where you're going not where you've come from that is important. I would agree that we have nowhere near the profile of some rival clubs these days but all the club can do is their best to attract someone of the highest calibre possible.

Swerve all the biased opinions that other fans will have, and the fact that the new manager will not please everyone. If we get Emery in particular I think that would be noticed across the continent, and be well regarded upon by neutrals and some non-neutrals alike, in short, it would say Everton are making a real attempt to compete, and get the best manager available to them.

I agree, can't fault the board for lack of ambition in trying to secure the best they can. Even if we don't get our top candidates we have tried. It's clear that Moshiri wants to move us forward in a big way and that will be attractive to a lot of people.

The other factor in this is the Premier League is the most attractive league to manage in Europe and we're the only show in town. There's more money here, the league is getting more competitive and the quality of managers becoming involved is very, very high.

So put yourself in a managers shoes.

The premier league has
Mourinho at Man U
Pep at City
Klopp at the RS
Conte at Chelsea

Now there's this club who are quite a big, the 4th most decorated in the UK.
They've been going through some hard times, they used to be massive and had greats like Lineker playing for them.
Now they've got a new owner with a few quid and as far as I can tell he seems really ambitious.
Imagine what a challenge that would be to get them winning again.
Imagine what it would do to my own reputation and imagine what it would be like to pit your wits against those mentioned managers week in week out.

I think it sounds like a really attractive challenge, keep the faith blues.
