Moyes is inspiring and can be cheap. The difference between this fella and Davey is almost nothing. This will be like throwing a wet blanket on our aspirations..........

But we have regressed massively since the Moyes days. Koeman's first job will be to sort things out so that we are no longer languishing behind Stoke and Southampton. A 6th or 7th placed finish next season actually will represent progress.

With respect I disagree - Moshiri was heavily advised going into this process and made it clear early on that Koeman was the man he wanted. Bear in mind Moshiri has seen years and years of how Wenger ran Arsenal bang in line with the Arsenal's board's wishes. It's not a stretch to say he sees similar qualities in Koeman but the critical difference is he is prepared to back the manager to succeed on the pitch rather than meet financial targets as was the case for Wenger under Kroenke's command.

Yet Koeman has done nothing that Moyes hasn't achieved in the Prem. Both managing plucky little clubs on shoestring budgets getting to 7th........is that it, is that the new dawn......."stay with me Rom and I'll get us to 6th".......

@The Esk do you know a time frame? and how sure are you its koeman

I'll only be sure it's Koeman when he's standing their with an Everton scarf.

One thing that has surprised me is that Southampton haven't put some sort of statement out (if it's a done deal that is) saying he's leaving, and they tried everything to convince him to stay, just to cover their back with their fans.

No it won't. It'll just be where we would have finished this year bar 3 or 4 substitutional mistakes.......

You're not that EFC_Jayy from Twitter are ya fella?

Ohhh god please tell me he is

Pellegrini never impressed Moshiri - quotes were "uninspiring and looking for a big pay day". Emery - I don't know, but he's got Sevilla committing more funds this summer.
If that's the case with Sevilla, why would Monchi leave? Would be great getting him but the whole situation seems bizarre.

A couple of years ago the list would have read,Howe,Moyes2,Hughes,and a couple of others this time we have been linked with a better class of manager,if it was the RS bringing Koeman in half the whoppers on here would be saying what a great appointment it was,he has got Southampton to finish in a great position for them and thats after players getting sold

I think you could consider Koeman a low risk, low-to-moderate reward option . He's a comfortable appointment that is sure to guarantee you at least mid-table, but I wouldn't expect him to win anything major.

Emery, on the other hand, is a high risk, high reward candidate. He's young and has no premier league experience, but he's also a winner. In addition to all the accomplishments at previous clubs, he's won the Europa League three times in a row, which is incredible.

Pellegrini I'd say is low risk, moderate reward. Experience in the premier league and managing a top club is a plus, but his inability to get the job done at City suggests he may not be the winner we need.

If we have the money to spend on the squad, I'd prefer the high risk, high reward candidate over playing it safe any day.

Same here.

Koemans everton will be massively different to Moyes Everton.

Success is no longer a bonus.. Its expected (once the dust settles) and will no doubt be drawn into the managers contract.

What alternative are you looking for, exactly? By the best accounts available we've spoken to Mourinho, approached Simeone and offered Emery a contract. None of those three worked out. We interviewed Pellegrini and deemed him unsuitable. Where do you see a better option than Koeman that's realistically available at this point?

It's not a couple of years ago. We have a new owner and we are in a totally different place financially. We can afford anyone on the planet limited only by our own lack of self belief.......
