Realistically....who would Ajax be able to buy for big money that would want to play in the Dutch league!?

Any player who is worth 'big money' will attract offers from higher profile leagues than the dutch. The fact that Overmars hasnt spent big there reflects nothing on his charácter.

I think people would rather he bought Djimi Traore for 100 mil just to show he likes to spend money
