I don't get why monchi will be so important, I guess others who know more could explain. I don't know of any situation in England where a D of F has been a success.

I repeat no guarantees, but we are fishing in the finest waters, dining at the highest table - that's the scale of our ambition. Currently difficult given where we are coming from, nevertheless that's what we are doing.
Not that I'm making a direct comparison, but I remember City spinning their wheels a little before they got traction. Chelsea, too. It's all about hitting the tipping point and letting momentum do the rest.

Southampton has been working. City have one too.

Monchi is extremely important to Sevilla and they've won 5 UEFA/Europa League's in 10 years mate. He does recruitment.

Fishing at the finest waters eh, is Tony Hibbert involved? If not, he should be. Seriously though, all this ambition is taking me back to my childhood. If Mr Moshiri turns out to be an Iranian John Moores, we're in clover.

The thing with City, iirc, the new owners seemed to let the current board go all loopy initially. That exec, Cook (?), telling AC Milan how to conduct transfers or something.

That doesnt seem to be the case here. Moshiri knows the scene.

its going to be hard for our best players to leave after this summer!

Monchi is a money maker too like it or not the fact that he can talent spot and set up one of the best scouting systems in the world makes Seville a lot of money which is a commodity that every club looks to have.

If we got him it would be a modernisation of our scouting system and a hope that he can buy players who will not only suit the team and manager but also increase in value for us to sell on and use the profits for either transfers or other things to finance without having to use tv deals or make further loans from banks etc. It makes perfect sense for us to want the best man for that type of role
