I repeat no guarantees, but we are fishing in the finest waters, dining at the highest table - that's the scale of our ambition. Currently difficult given where we are coming from, nevertheless that's what we are doing.

I don't get why monchi will be so important, I guess others who know more could explain. I don't know of any situation in England where a D of F has been a success.

.....the ability to successfully bring in the right talent is key. Not just the best players but the best blend of players. Monchi has a proven record in this respect so it could be as important an appointment as Koeman. It's vital the Manager and DoF work in tandem.
 
The thing with City, iirc, the new owners seemed to let the current board go all loopy initially. That exec, Cook (?), telling AC Milan how to conduct transfers or something.

That doesnt seem to be the case here. Moshiri knows the scene.
Plus, City gave Mark Hughes some serious cash to spend.
