surely this is the year (again) for the StarsOpening night for the NHL!
Who does everyone like?
Went to the Caps last preseason game on Friday. I’m not sure if he was out of shape, hungover or what but Ovechkin looked miles off it
Saw the Wild last night at the Caps game. Honestly thought they outplayed the Caps and probably should have won.my expectations for the Wild are absolutely nil so the excitement isn’t really there. Only 2 more years of the buyouts though
For shame. Leonsis planning to move the Capitals/Wizards out of the District to Northern Virginia.
‘This is monumental’: Capitals, Wizards owners partner up with Virginia for proposed arena, entertainment district in Alexandria - WTOP News
Washington Capitals and Wizards owner joined Virginia officials in announcing plans to move both teams from the District to Potomac Yard on Wednesday.wtop.com
If this goes through, it’s really going to devastate the Penn Quarter area. They’ve got a great thing going with the current setup. Ideal Metro access, tons of restaurants, bars, etc.Terrible. I'm not from the region, but seems like there are so many ways to make this work that it's unecessary to move. Also, who cares about Virginia? Isn't that just the Pentagon, two airports, an outlet mall, and some suburban houses?
Yup. Nats/DC United have been a big success. Especially DC United. The problem for the Nats is a far superior stadium (and team for the time being) is 30 miles north). I think the issue with redeveloping RFK is that there is only housing surrounding the stadium. So it’s not really a place to linger, grab dinner/beers, etc.Terrible. It seems like Nats/DC United has been a huge success. I would think you could redevelop RFK as a hockey/basketball arena and tear down Capitol One area and redeveliop as prime real estate. All that would take is a few hundred million in local dollars and a few deep-pocketed, future looking developers, but it's a solid idea to me.
