..at the moment i’d give him a go at no10 ahead of Sigurdsson and Rooney. We look impotent up front, he’s at least got a bit about him to go past players and create.

I’m not saying it’s the answer to the problem, i’m saying it’s worth a go.

On paper, if you look mid-long term at the midfield we've got

Lookman, Davies, Baningime and Onyekuru+Dowell and perhaps Walsh/Williams to come into the squad next summer.

However, at the moment on the wings we have;

Mirallas -- selfish and wants to make it all about himself and take 30 yard potshots
Lookman -- Great when we get the ball to his feet or in front of him, not when we play long ball sat back
Lennon -- An 'ok' player whose in the team to protect Kenny
Bolasie -- I wont slate him for now...but injured anyway

So, if we go for 2 wide players I think Vlasic needs to be in the side...other option would be to assess Vlasic on the left which allows baines to stay back as he cant track back quickly anymore...then we rely on Lennon to start in front of Kenny and Lookman to come in as sub?

I will say though, that I'm in agreement that Vlasic is a 10. I mentioned this a few times when we signed him that wed bought et another 10

@Eggs

If we played 2 attacking midfielders behind a forward, do you think Vlasic could link up well with Barkley/Dowell/Rooney/Sigurdsson/Klaassen?

..the biggest challenge at the moment is not to concede, particularly away from home. If we haven’t got two effective attacking wide players you have to wonder if we’re better playing two defensive players in those positions. It’s not a solution but it might be a stop gap, almost ‘dogs of war’ or ‘park the bus’ scenario.

I don’t know the answers, it’s like trying to find a magic bullet but in the short-term a couple of blank sheets go a long way.

...I think the key at the minute is to not lose games. To this effect, I think i’d be tempted to at least try Vlasic as the only attacking midfielder. He’s in the Barkley mould, so can receive the ball and transition defence into attack. Sigurdsson and Rooney don’t look capable of doing that.

Steve Walsh watched him rag arl arse Baines about a bit in the Europa.
Thought he'd blag on that he's been 'scouting him' for beards.

Koff Walsh.
