I'm sure as a player he wants to play for Spain. It's hard to believe that he's not being picked because he plays for us, and if so that's a terrible indictment of their coach. Spain are blessed with some tremendous midfielders but it does seem bizarre that he hasn't been selected once by now.

It's a shame. He should be picked, recent form should at the very least get him into the squad. I'd start him. Being picked would give Mikel a boost, not being picked gives him a rest. We benefit either way in the short term. I wish the 'old pervy racialist' would play fair and select on merit, I fear that Mikel may eventually decide he has to move to get any chance of a call up. Then we would really loose out on a great player.

On current form, his perfromances are much better than those of Alonso and Reira, however, he is never ever going to oust Xavi or Iniesta out, and the two kopites play a different role to him. I cant see him ever getting a cap.

Injuries to Cesc, De La Red, Capi and Guti and he still can't get in, it's laughable to be honest.

His form has been excellent, he just needs to keep it up really.

Alonso doesn't play in a different role. He can also play in Riera's position.

True, he was suffering from injuries for the majority of last season though. His form since the Spurs game has been superb, he just has to keep it up really.

Talking about form, Alonso's form has only improved this season. He was also poor in the two seasons before this one.
