I have the computer hooked up to my TV right now, in a 1920x1080 resolution. It is sweet, although the banner up top, it only goes half way across the screen

Fix it Dan :P

what lead did you use i have a new 1080p 42 inch sharp t.v and wanted to hook it up to my laptop but don't know what lead to ask for in the shop, any ideas. cheers

Couple of ways you can do it. Either get a VGA-HDMI converter and go through the HDMI ports, or if your TV has a vga connection, just run VGA to VGA.

Let me know what connections your TV has and what your laptop outputs and I can give some recommendations.

You two can be tragically sad at times lads(n)(n)(n)(n)(n)

Which two? I am the only tragically sad person here :P

Anyway, the reason I did it was so I can set my PC up to do home theater duty as well. I already have all the video gear and the sound processing, no need to go spending ridiculous amounts of money of recievers and amps and crap when I already have the gear. Plus it is just appealing to be able to play games on the 42" TV!!!

Ooh I want to do this!!! The pc I bought even came with a remote control, but I need an extension lead for it to reach the telly :(

Can't wait til I can watch a torrented movie on the telly whilst posting here. Ooh, I could watch Sopcast matches on the telly too
