North Korea warns Seoul of nuclear war following UN sanctionsPyongyang also vows to continue atomic weapons programme, as South's president leaves for talks with Obama in Washington

North Korea has warned of a nuclear war on the Korean peninsula while vowing to step up its atomic weapons programme in defiance of new UN sanctions.

Is it likely that these new and any further sanctions would mean they would be banned from it even if they qualified?

Blimy Teppic don't say things like that, flashback to the threat of a four minute warning there.

*Phew, sigh of relief.

haha, yeah the thread does read a bit like that. 4 hours? plenty of time to NOT PANIC, NOT PANIC and sit cowering under a cardboard box.

Saw a BBC documentary called the Game of their Lives about the 66 North Korea squad, one of the best documentaries I've ever seen.

Who's in in Asia now? Japan, and both Koreas? Thought the Aussies were going to cakewalk through Asia.

Australia through as well and I think the 3rd placed teams go into a play off, and the winner of that plays new Zealand (please correct me If I'm wrong)

No because I'm sure someone would have tried to have the USA banned in the last few World Cups for general asshattery.

My understanding is that if the government has control/strong influence over the football association, then that FA can't be a member of FIFA (even if the government are peace loving hippies). There was a case maybe 10 years ago where some FA was bailed out by the government, who in return wanted a say to stop them falling apart again. FIFA refused and said the FA had to be independent. I can't remember which country this was though - Georgia maybe?

OTOH, as long as the government doesn't have control, the actions of the government are not reflected onto the football team in FIFA's eyes. Zimbawbwe, for instance, are happily playing football. So basically, if Korea are being allowed to play now then further UN sanctions won't change anything.
