Premier League - Papers: Rafael given just £5m

Liverpool fans who welcomed Tom Hicks's assertion that he would give Rafael Benitez a substantial transfer budget this summer should reconsider their stance - unless they think £5 million is substantial.
According to the Daily Mail, that is the measly sum the Anfield gaffer will be given to spend on players this summer. What's more, he is also yet to be given assurances that any funds he brings in through sales will be handed back to him.
Therefore Benitez is stalling on selling the likes of Yossi Benayoun, Ryan Babel, Albert Riera and Philipp Degen to foreign clubs until he is told that he can keep the cash raised.
Manchester United fans will no doubt snigger at that news, but before they start predicting Liverpool's demise they should take a cautionary glance at The Guardian, which runs the rule over their latest set of accounts under the headline: 'Analysts say Manchester United must sell players to pay debts'.
They'll be complaining because Rafael's only got £5million to spend this summer...... those Kopite BLERTS!
