Old but new, and with a rubbish memory

The first game I saw at Goodison was in 1953? for an England school boys game. I can't remember the opposition, though it was probably Wales, but I was impressed by the diamond of mud on the pitch.

First Everton game in 1957 but I can't remember the opposition - rubbish memory, and it's not just due to age. We stood in the Boys Pen, at the back - the front was not recommended by my friends...

Favourite player - Derek Temple, I saw his debut, I think...just like I saw Joe Royle's debut, which I believe was at Blackpool, when he was only 16. But, as ever, I could be mistaken
