May 30, 1981 - Japan XI 2-2 Everton. Howard Kendall’s first match as Everton’s newly-appointed player-manager saw him take the team to the Far East for a post-season showpiece friendly tournament. Peter Eastoe & Imre Varadi were the Blues’ scorers in the first tournament match.
Kevin Langley. The St Helens-born midfielder spent 7 months at Everton during the 1986/87 season, playing 23 times, providing vital cover for an injury-hit side and playing enough games to qualify for a league title winners medal.
