Neil Pointon. Defender</i>. Age 20 (until 28 Nov ’85). Born Warsop Vale. After four years as a consistent and reliable performer with Scunthorpe, Neil was bought by Everton in a £75,000 deal in autumn 1985. Howard Kendall hoped Pointon could provide cover for Pat Van Den Hauwe at left-back, and Neil made his debut in a 6-1 thrashing of Arsenal in November 1985. He made 15 league appearances. However, he then suffered a bad knee injury -
