Blue Wiz

Player Valuation: £25m
Last season there were a thread on TW about our first and second 11.... Couldn't find such a therad here, but it's interesting to see our potential squad how a second lineup might look

First 11:

...................Howard..................
...Neville....Yobo...Lescott...Baines
..Fernandes..Cahill..Carsley..Arteta
..............AJ..........Yak...............

Second 11:

..................Wessel...................
..Hibbert..Stubbs...Jags...Valente..
.Osman..daSilva..Vidarsson..Pienaar
........Vaughan......Anichebe.........

reserves: McFadden, Boyle, Turner, Ruddy, Jutkiewicz

Not saying that it's the best first 11.. just a thought on how our squad has improved.

i think that Vaughan should be first squad just as often as not

Well, as we have all seen he should be used rarely even though he can come on and make things happen.

why? because his body is still growing and still developing and if we over use him now he will turn into michael owen in a few years (never on the pitch and never scores!)

I liked the way Moyes was dealing with rooney.

I agree with CT that Vaghan should be considered in the first squad, but as i said on here a lot of times about Vic and Vaghan they shouldnt be considered first choice starters for the next two seasons. Why/ Because it is the nature of young players to have a blip in form, suffer from inconsistencey and get suspended while their learning their craft with that in mind early success can often llead to extreame expectations, and pressure on young players by fans.

Though i beleive both will mature into decnt first team players, Vaghaney maybe more, im delighted weve signed yak so both can dip in and out of the team based on form, injuries and suspensions over the next couple of years, untill the are "ready" for the first team week in week out.

Second 11:

..................Wessel...................
..Hibbert..Stubbs...Jags...Valente..
.Osman..daSilva..Vidarsson..Pienaar
........Vaughan......Anichebe.........

reserves: McFadden, Boyle, Turner, Ruddy, Jutkiewicz

so do we play the second eleven in europe or the premiership?

either way, it looks a little weak. I think we need to secure Vogel, in addition to Fernandes and Yakubu, to strengthen up the midfield. I think Faddy should be ahead of anichebe as well. His limitations have been evident to many recently.

Vaughan, Osman, Stubbs are all excellent players to have in your squad and can dart in and out of the first team.

Still think we need to find another winger also - Pienaar, Osman and VDM compete with Arteta (although Fernandes may well be converted out of necessity to a wide player) for the other winger place.

Has Moyes made a decision regarding VDM?

Our first eleven is the best I've seen since the 80's.

wonderful stuff.

With regard to the premierleague the second 11 is weak. But for cup matches against lower league team the relatively weak midfield should do ok.

The goalie is experienced on high lvl, the back four have experience from PL and international games, the midfield is the weak spot, the strikeduo have also proven they can score in the PL.

I just wanted to show how our team could look with a starting 11 out injured.

Vaughan is fine at the top level, but I think Anichebe despite some goals, is found wanting currently. He's young so has plenty of time to improve.
Goals are important but link up play is equally crucial and Anichebe failed to hold the ball up and gave possession away the last two games.

Da Silva and Vidarsson obviously aren't at Everton standard yet, as shows by Moyes reluctance to field them. Valente was shocking at Reading and I'd have my doubts about jags in the centre of defence.

The problem is, over a long season featuring the league cup, the FA cup, the premiership and hopefully beyond the first round of the UEFA cup, these second eleven will have to be relied upon - due to injuries, rotation, tiredness, loss of form or the loss of players (yakubu and Yobo) to the african nations.

Some of them are a long way away from the quality of the first team. That's why I'd like to see Vogel come in, or another loan deal.

Don't want to seem overly negative, as the first team is starting to look [Poor language removed] brilliant.
