David Moyes wants to reward Everton's fans with a European experience to be proud of.

Well over 30,000 tickets have now been sold for the Uefa Cup first round, first leg game against Metalist Kharkiv at Goodison on Thursday.

Moyes believes this illustrates the excitement and passion with which Everton fans regard European competition.

And now he admits that he is keen to be involved in providing glory to rival that of the Cup Winners' Cup winning side of 1985.

"I think that it shows how important it was for us to get into Europe," Moyes told evertonTV.

"If there are over 30,000 at a Uefa Cup game that will be fantastic because there are Champions League games with less supporters at the moment."

Moyes noted the Cup Winners' Cup semi final win over Bayern Munich, one of Goodison Park's greatest ever games.

"Let's be fair," he said, "It's what the Everton supporters have been brought up on.

"It wasn’t long ago we watched the tape of Everton against Bayern in the semi final, and you can see the supporters and how many of them are longing for another night like that, so hopefully we will be able to give them as close to that as we can."

Can't wait for this game, lets hope the place is rocking. (y)

Theres no doubt about it, Goodison will be a great place to be tonight, as long as Metalist dont score that is. I just hope the crowd dont get too itchy and get on the players backs if things start going against us, we need to remember that its more important to stop Metalist scoring tonight, we really cant afford to let them get an away goal advantage.

But even if they do, its over 180 minutes of football, so lets just get the best atmosphere we can tonight, and scare the hell out of those Metalists!
