Palace Axe Pardew

Because he's a good manager out of work who was sacked for reasons other than his managerial abilities

Sam is no better an option, and brings far more baggage

He's a "name" though, so he'll get the gig over Rowett

Tbf Sam has proven himself over and over again in this kind of situation. Rowett deserves another chance somewhere but if i was Palace chairman then Sam would be clear front runner.

Seems likely that Pardew sacking may also have been partly for non-footballing reasons.

I head the previous chairman describe him something like if he was a piece of chocolate he would eat himself or something like that.

Massive ego without the ability to warrant it.

So what?

Every manager is unproven in the Premier League at some point

Until you take your first PL manager position, you're unproven

It's a gamble going for Rowett, but it's one I think is worth taking
What's the point of taking a gamble on an unknown when Big Sam is proven over 20 odd years. You only have to look back to last year with Sunderland to show that Sam can do what Palace need.

He impressed the Birmingham owners so much they sacked him.

There were reasons for him losing his job at Birmingham, none of which were to do with his ability as a manager. He turned a floundering club around and then new owners decided they wanted their own man, so went and got him

Sentiments such as yours is why we have the constant managerial merry-go-round with no new blood ever getting a chance at the top level

That'll be the previous Chairman who virtually bankrupted the club through incompetence and vanity and now whores himself out to the media to criticise the (comparatively) very successful current board. Loathsome ego maniac.
