Viera is a miserable get! Last nights events only served to darken his mood as he trudged forlornly to his dressing room. Haunted by the thoughts that he is manager of a small but nevertheless feisty Crystal Palace, whilst his old mukka Frank has got a gig at a massive, latent footballing giant of a club with a fanatical following.

So it was inevitable that he would strike out at the quiet unassuming fan who crossed his path. The lad only asked him did he like pineapple on pizza ffs!

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a racist / personal thing that pushed him over the edge. Over years of being in the PL , and especially at places like Spurs & Man U, Viera must have a thick skin and be used to abuse on the pitch. It's a shame it happens, but from understanding it's the worst 'crossing the line' abuse that pushes them over the edge.

Seeing this whole pitch invasion I've got really mixed feelings.
Of course it's worth going crazy celebrating that we escaped relegation. We should NOT be celebrating it, but after such a horrible season at least it feels good. We should be celebrating getting in Europe and winning stuff, and we'll get abuse for celebrating 16th place, when the other lot win 2-4 cups .
On the other hand, I'm surprised that players were not escorted or looked after, and even though our fans are generally great, there's always potential for an idiot, and even our players who have not always been loved could have been under threat. Luckily most people don't repeat in real life what they say behind the safety of their phones & keyboards!
nothing racist was said

Why should he have to run?

You should be allowed to walk away from your place of work without someone shouting in your face.

Do you run home from work every day in case someone might yell in your face?
We arent at kindergarten here, mate.

You are in a hostile environment with thousands of opposing fans. The idea that this is just another day at the office is a joke, and Viera will have been well aware of it.

Which is why I am wondering if he was spoiling for something. His gait actually indicates he may have been.

Lad was winding Vieira up and got a kicking for his troubles. That should be the end of it, but the media will run with it because it suits their current narrative.

Of course it's not like an office, but trying to provoke the opposition manager is just bizarre behaviour and pretty embarassing.

Anyway, it's not that big a deal at the end of the day. The kid needs to grow up, and Vieira maybe slightly overreacted. Bit of a storm in a teacup and I don't think there's any need for it to go any further.

I think he thinks the fella goading him touches him when it's the other fan patting him as he goes past.

Not ideal for fans to be taunting like that, but you can't go volleying someone because of words and gesturing.

Some former players/pundits would be scrapping before and after every game around stadiums if they all reacted like that.
Yep part of the responsibility of being an elite footballer

otherwise Cantona type situations would occur every week
