The Unobstructed View
BBC Sport - Football - Struggling Portsmouth part company with boss Paul Hart

Portsmouth manager Paul Hart has left the Premier League's basement club with immediate effect.
The club said the decision to relieve him of his duties had been "made reluctantly based on results that leave Pompey at the bottom of the league".
Hart, 56, was offered a role as technical director responsible for players aged 18-21, but declined it.
Coaches Paul Groves and Ian Woan take temporary charge, with director of football Avram Grant tipped to be boss.

had a terrrible start, but had to put up with a right mess. so it seems that Larry Grayson is fav to get the job.

Bit of a snide way of offing him, the players finding out from sky sports. Turmoil down there, who is the owner? how much do they owe the premier league? will there world class stadium development on the docks be going through now? will James leave in January (to be honest, he will get plenty of work to do in that goal more than most)? do they have the strength to bounce back up like it looks toon will do?

Bit of a joke this to be honest.
They sell the whole team, put the club in turmoil, expect him to make a silk purse overnight, then just as they seem to be getting it together, sack him. (n)

I hope they go down now.

cue Davek's ears lifting up.

I do feel sorry for Paul Hart. He's ad alot of c**p to deal with!

Selling his best players for starters, then having 2 takeovers as well. Something dodgy is going on down there.

They'e struggled since 'Arry left them the second time

I expect Avram Grant will take over, but I doubt he will be able to save them from relegation. I don't know how much or little they have to spend in Januar - Saying that, probably more than us!

When ownership hands you mid-level championship players you end up in the championship.

The players played hard under Hart and were unlucky at times to get a result (this tends to even out over the course of the season too), which is all you could ask for a team like that. Shouldn't have fired him, the team will only get worse now.

I agree, from a neutrals point of view it looked like the players were pulling for Hart and they have had a few unlucky moments. The quality has been ripped out of that side good and proper. Grant hasn't shown anything that convinces me he'll be a better bet to keep them up.

On the other hand no bell ringing weapon at Goodison and our away fans won't have to put up with that uncovered end at Fratton. Bye bye Pompey.

In all fairness, the amount of times Pompey have outplayed a side and not came away with 3 points is tragic. He really didn't deserve the sack.

Thats the problem with Foriegn Owners. They want wins quickly, its not going to happen in Football nowadays.

Here he is at the press conference:

I think it's fair to say that opinion among Portsmouth fans is split. To be fair, some of those moans really aren't very fair, and regardless, it's not as if they were spoilt for choice in those putting their names forward!

Any semi-capable manager would have avoided the club like the plague - who wants to take on a relegation battle when all the club's talent has been sold? If as a manager you already have a reasonable reputation, getting relegated with Portsmouth isn't going to do it any good!

He was never going to last the seaon. Pity he put up with all the crap this seaason after steadying the ship last year after mush went to spurs.
