Penalties in the Premier League

Player Valuation: £35m
Just wanted to check on what the comparative penalty situations were in the Premier League, seeing that we still have yet to be awarded one this season.

Looking at the stats from the BBC (which have penalties scored, but not ones which are awarded and missed), we are one of four teams this season who have not scored from a penalty. The others are Man. City, Derby and Bolton

(We also know that we haven't been awarded one and missed it either in the PL, but it is difficult to pick up those stats on other teams.)

City also haven't been scored against from the penalty spot in the PL this season, joined in that by West Ham, Newcastle and United.

Although we may think we are hard done by, conceding three times and not being awarded one penalty, the pride of place in that department probably has to go to Sunderland, who have scored once from a penalty but had six scored against them in the PL this season.

Looking at it over the last 12 months, which is as far as the BBC stats go back, it is a better snapshot for us as we scored three times from the penalty spot between February and May without reply, bringing our +/- to 0 over the last year.

Teams with the best +/- of PL penalties scored/conceded were (you guessed it) Arsenal with +6 and United with +5.

Teams with the worst +/- were Sunderland and Fulham with -5.

If you wanted to see a penalty in a match, you were best off going to see the RS, with a total of 12 penalties scored in PL matches involving them in the last year, followed by Blackburn with 10 and Birmingham with 9 (all this season).

Least penalties, again by a clear margin, were in PL matches involving City, with only two in the last 12 months.

Bolton had a pen yesterday and missed Att and I am sure Derby missed a couple, don't know about City

johnson won 10 penalties for crystal palace in their season in the top flight. since then he has been marked for it and even being kicked up in the air, like he was at blackburn, will not get a decision.
