Manchester City star Martin Petrov hits out at manager Mark Hughes
Published 13:41 07/10/09 By MirrorFootball
Bulgarian winger Martin Petrov has hit out at Manchester City manager Mark Hughes after being left out of Monday's night draw at Aston Villa.
Petrov scored against West Ham in City's previous match, and also set up Carlos Tevez's goal in the same game.
He celebrated his goal by running to the bench and pointing to his shirt and number, but he insisted: "I didn't do it for him (Hughes). I did it for my wife because she forgot my number."
The 30-year-old, who joined City from Atletico Madrid in 2007, is preparing for his country's last two World Cup qualifiers against Cyprus and Georgia, and voiced his displeasure to local journalists.
"I wanted to save my energy to win some jitball matches during Bulgaria training sessions," Petrov said sarcastically when asked why he did not play against Villa.
And the wide man, who almost joined Tottenham on the final day of the August transfer window, added: "When they (City) give me a chance I give my best. I think I've shown that I deserve a place in the starting line-up but it's up to him (Hughes).
"It's not a pleasant (situation). I'm a professional and I'm observing my obligations, but it doesn't rest well with me."

Probably add this to the "wants to prove his worth" catagory but is pretty much expendable in the "revolution"

Expect more of this. Lescott is welcome to them.

Well the rumour is that they might go for Puyol on a free from Barca because he wants to come to the Prem. If that's the case its either leave your experienced 31 year old who's won Champions League, Spanish Leagues, and European Cups on the bench or your 24mill man who cant even get into the national 1st team and has won fook all....

Wondered how long it would take for the ego's to kick in.

I'd snap City's hands off to get Petrov. Imagine the damage we would do to teams with him out on the wing.
