Have a read of this article and let's have you thoughts

IMO, ye,s the elitist G14 group should be scrapped as it restricts the wealth within football to so very few clubs. That organisation itself may well implode as only the really big teams appear to be gaining financially from the set up. That said I don't trust Platini either as he intends reducing the amount of Eurpean football available to English clubs, he believes, possibly quite rightly, that we have too many teams able to qualify for Europe but fails to appreciate that in reality the bulk of teams in this country fight out each season for mere UEFA places, the CL being a closed shop. If he wanted simply to reduce the CL to champions only, a logical move, then that would be ok but he would then have to throw his own uefa cup open to more clubs otherwise he'd start strangling the game here.

What are you thoughts?

Go back to the old European cup, it wasn't broke and didn't need fixing.

:)

as long as it is only for respective champions Rob. If that happened you could then bring back the Cup winners cup, the Inter City Fairs Trophy, which effectively cancelled out most smaller clubs anyway

no, they make too much money and have too much influence, platini doesnt like how every decision ends up in courts costing both sides, and he realises the G14 are the financial heavyweights and a few million in courts is nothing to them.

If you are right then Suits the tail will wag the dog to death imo:angry:  I think they should risk a breakwaay and to hell with them. In doing so heap huge surcharges on any player moving between codes, you cannot have a plutocracy ruling the game or it will die:angry:

If Platini can get FIFA behind him all the way - even to the extent of sanctions against players, exclusion from the World Cup - then perhaps he can break the G14. I cannot see him / UEFA doing it otherwise. Money rules - sad but true.

A break away is too risky for both sides they each have to much to loose. i think both sides will make shapes over the next few years and a comprimise will be agreed.

Some sort of club representation/council/forum incorporated into Uefa but hopefully more democratic in the sense that you dont have to win the champions leauge four years on the trot to be "invited in" to lobby & advocate to bring about equity, secure rights and justice in the game in terms of club representation.

Both Uefa and G14 structures are essentially undemocratic in their resent format. Some mesure of proportional representation and seeding could work.

the inequality is what fuels it, the lions share is what they are all about, there will be no dilution of the pot of gold.

Why haven't we fans ever organised to that degree afterall it is us that the entire industry relies on so the eventual say should lay with the fans, we need to reclaim the game:)

well, the tv money in the upcoming season will for the first time ever exceed a clubs gate money for the season.

TV equals adverts equals revenue

No fans equals empty stadia equals poor viewing equals poor advertising equals no income equals fan power

exactly monty, if everyone exercised their fan power, unsubscribed from sky, never went to games...

THATS fan power.
