Playing to orders vs imagination!

Maybe its just me , but does anyone else think that the players need to show a greater awareness and cleverness in our matches?.Our new players seem to have a better understanding of what is required ,as compared to the players who have been at the club for a couple of years. Obviously the turbulance of the last five years hasn't helped settle us down --- until Ancellotti arrived --- but there is a notable difference in the the ambition and belief of the new influx of players!. I'm not saying that the players aren't trying to lmprove ,just that at some point their imagination or desire to try something different seems to vanish into thin air! and I can't for the life of me understand why. Is playing to orders restricting their own capability to try and do something to change the game,or is it more important to conform to the "norm" of playing it safe?. We no longer have a manager that "hopes" to improve the team ---- with no idea of how to do it --- or is just to stubborn to do anything other than bore us all to death. The Don has got players that with just one pass/interception/movement can alter the whole course of a game,.....and I ,for one --- want that little bit more from our stars. Anyone can "follow" but we have got players now who can lead and perform at a higher level.I think its time to make the step up !. We all want leaders not people just along for the ride.So we have to be smarter and cleverer,quicker in thought and idea,and faster in execution. As I say it may just be me,but that is what I think we need!

Coach lays down the basics...leaders lead...those with football brains move it about, pass and move and such, make it up as you go

For that you need a decent Coach, some actual leaders and players who can play
