I'm more than willing to follow the herd and slate the man, but I need a vague outline really. Is it the England job corruption allegations?

I think it's the fact that he used to deploy a lone target man (Kevin Davies) up front when he was manager of Bolton Wanderers.

But back then Bolton could only afford one decent striker. They were literally that skint.

He wouldn't be considered by the majority of the fans, but the problem is there aren't many managers available who have Premiership experience.Taking someone on from a foreign league in the position we're in at the moment would be a huge risk. And sad to say we see our club in a much different light than outsiders do.We're a club who have won nothing for decades, had a big influx of cash just when lots of other clubs did too (Wolves West Brom to name a couple). And have just wasted a small fortune on mismatched players. So we aren't a big draw and the only way we could hope to temp a top manager is with a big salary and long contract. And as we have already seen with Koeman* and Martinez a big pay off means when things get tough the golf course looks tempting. So although in better times Sam shouldn't even be mentioned where we stand today he might be the only workable solution.

Sorry but the whole thing stinks. Is this really what we've become. OK we've messed up twice but big sam FFS so p'ed off with even entertaining the idea.
I don't normally moan and try and remain up beat, but travelling up the A14,M6 to watch fat head once a month. It's a massive no from me. Going to bed to cry myself to sleep now and won't put my toys back in the pram either.

What is it that we hate about him?

I'm not sure. People are behaving as if he's an ex-RS. He's not exactly Guardiola but he's kept some truly crap teams in the Premier League and guided some truly average teams into Europe.

To be fair Sam has a bit more about him than his rep suggests. He's deep into stat analysis and quality diets for the players (if not for himself), and at least his Bolton team had some flair about it with Djourkaeff (dodgy spelling probs) and Okocha.

But the biggest job he's had (England, and he was doing alright) he royally screwed up by acting crooked. That, plus his CV of managing small clubs, means we shouldn't be in for him considering our supposed ambitions.
