The Premier League has confirmed that Portsmouth will be prevented from registering any new players until further notice.

Pompey have been hit with a transfer embargo and will be unable to make any new signings for the foreseeable future.

Premier League spokesman Dan Johnson said: "We can confirm that there is an embargo on Portsmouth registering any new players."

Sky Sports News' chief news reporter Bryan Swanson understands the ban relates to unpaid instalments to clubs over previous transfers, in particular Lassana Diarra's move from Arsenal in January last year.

It's normal practice for clubs to pay transfer fees over a number of instalments.

Swanson has been told by Portsmouth officials that the club remains "relaxed" about the transfer ban and they expect the issue to be resolved as quickly as possible.

A decision to lift the ban will be made by the Premier League board only when it is satisfied the club is acting in accordance with its new Financial Reporting rules, imposed this season.

Swanson has been told that new owner Ali Al-Faraj is not now expected at Fratton Park

They're fans committed crimes against decency with the largest amount of adult painted faces ever recorded on camera, and that all cheering Arsenal thing for the Sky cameras.

They're like a meffy Leeds.

bet city will buy all their players in January so they won't be able to replace them, then city can win the game by default.

:D I wonder if one day you'll have hostile takeovers by one club over another just so you can engulf and dissolve them? Or operate a franchise system like the NHL. Winnipeg had a team, then the owners decided to move it to another part of the country. Would love to see Portsmouth end up in Oman.
