How does AC Milan get in then?

Wouldn't the team that finished right behind Porto in the Portuguese League take that spot?

Ah ok then.

I assumed it was AC Milan getting Porto's place and that just didn't compute.

(WAIT...Milan's getting Moscow's place ?!?! Why not the next Russian team? It's enough to do my head in...)

I think he meant CSKA Sofia, and instead of the next place team (Levski Sofia) getting it they are allededly going to give it to the team who have the highest Uefa Rankings which is Milan.

Politics, simply as that.

Porto has been charged for facts that took place in 2003.

The new rule should only be effective for the future. That's a basic principle in law.

I guess that we'll be looking for a new "Bosman" thing if Porto appeal to the EU instances.

Its pretty much official when the big teams ([Poor language removed], Milan) don't qualify for the C-League, UEFA will use any excuse to bend the rules to get them in. This is a joke.

Wouldn't it be up to the BFU who get THEIR CL spot?

Yes, it would, but Milan finished 5th so the rules no longer apply.

Even if us, Thai taxpayer FC, and Villa knock the [Poor language removed] down to 7th they'll still be in the C-League. They'll throw out the champions of say Finland because some fan threw a beer bottle on the field in 1983, then they'll make up some UEFA coficient nonsence to put them in right after they go back in time to bring the 1970 Brazilian national team to face us in a one-time only perforamnce in 3rd round qualifying.

"Portuguese champions Porto have been excluded from next season's Champions League over alleged bribery of referees in the 2003/04 season. "

Was the special one the manager then?
